East Deerfield, MA 7-15-86 PT 1

Lots of stuff here in a plethora of paint schemes, typical of Guilford in those days.
First up, a Maine Central SW9 switches the yard.
Then a trio of Boston & Maine GP9s comes out of the engine
terminal and backs down into the yard.
The BUBO (Buffalo, NY - Boston, MA) arrives from the West.
The power (7 units) cuts off and goes to the engine terminal.
Next a D&H GP38-2 leads a string of dead U-Boats West out of the
yard.
A Maine Central GP38 leads two other units into the engine terminal.
The the B&M GP9s take their train out of the yard and head down the
line towards Springfield, MA

A Great time to Railfan in the early days of Guilford before we knew how bad it would get for the men that worked for them !! Three roads D&H, B&M, MEC and three builders Alco, GE, EMD. Four Axle, Six Axle and their many RR Liveries !! : )

The lite engines west (D&H 7322+) was a hospital train heading to Colonie, as EDFLD did not do heavy repairs on GE units.

I never got to see that Maine Central switcher in E. Deerfield. I remember the weathered B&M one in the maroon and gold paint.

The last scene, with 3 Bluebirds heading for the Deerfield Loop must have been EDPL. I remember 1724, and 1733 were in Plainville regularly at this time.

That was EDSP heading for Yard 3 in Springfield. PLSP/SPPL would run at night to swap cars at Yard 3.

@Barricade360 The switcher was not an ALCO. It was either an EMD SW7 or SW9. (I can't make out the road number in the video.) Either way it would have had an EMD 567 V-12 engine producing 1200 Horsepower. There are no ALCOs in these shots at East Deerfield. They are all EMD or GE units.
