Hello from the East of Germany, I am a collector of NVA stuff, here in Tangermünde we have the company Sturm this had also produced in the GDR uniforms and some equipment for the NVA. I go times at my Unifromen, I have a summer uniform in the size M52 blouse and SG52 pants, the blouse would have to be at best SG52 with me, winter Unifrom are SG52 and G52, that is not the biggest problem with me, but the head size and indeed I have a head size of 59 and you can hardly find anything of it. Before you ask what rank I represent it is Colonel in the field service execution. Shortly back to Sturm these sell also still rests of the NVA and sell also repros of the Kaiserzeit etc. these sell also small figures in NVA style. And Bundeswehr stuff.

I have found the same problem with headgear. I have a size 63 head size, square too, and yes I can thank my German ancestors for that. I have never found any East Germany head gear in that size. One would think, that given there are many large and square heads in Germany, these sizes would be more common. I have bought some army caps, winter and summer from Austria. These caps are in my size and as the Austrians know, larger hats need to be made more square with plenty of cloth to cover large heads. Best fitting hats I have ever found, at least for me.

4:56 This is not a serial number. "TGL" means: "Technische Grundnormen und Lieferbedingungen"/ "Basic technical standards and delivery conditions". It is a system of standards, such as DIN, or ISO, etc. The "MdI" was also responsible for the MfS, "Ministry for State Security"

something i have to add when it comes to the sizes, the sizes written on the uniform are more of a guideline since even if they are the same size they still differ up to 5cm in different places, hence why in the nva the soldier/officer had to put on a couple suits in the same size to see which on fitted him the most

Hello my jacket has a weird code in it its set up like NVA m48 03209

This video is awesome, but I have a jacket with no markings on the inside and the size on the label uses a different size scheme to the ones shown here. It is also made of a much rougher and hairier material. It does have the plastic buttons to attach the collar liner, and has a closed collar, with the top buttons, but otherwise, it has no indication of who or when it was made. My only guess is that it is a particularly early example. Do you have any info on this style of jacket?

I also have a uniform like that it is made of wool, I believe, and just has the size but no date in the uniform
