Noticed they cut their sirens coming up to the intersection to keep from spooking the horse. Something you don't really think about when you don't live in parts of the country with Amish. Great catch!

A barn fire broke out last night near me at about 16:30 hours, beginning as a shed fire before spreading to and destroying the cattle barn. It took about 2 hours to bring the fire under control, and crews remained on scene for about 2-3 more hours to douse all the hot spots. I’m sure that barn’s a total loss.

We need more volunteers. It's a dieing breed allot of depts do not have enough manpower or resources anymore. Back in the day our dept could handle a barn fire alone. Now we have 4 depts and get lucky to have 15 guys. This looks like they activated MABAS

In Pennsylvania many counties use something called the Opticom system which is a series of IR beacons and receivers mounted to a traffic light. It's very likely that the light was green for the fire truck but red in the opposite direction.

Great video footage. Chauffeurs who drive tankers, have a challenging job. Heavy weight, and the water can destabilize the truck, especially in a curve or turn. Braking distances are increased, as well.

I thought we were about to witness an almighty pile-up between those two rigs at the intersection at the same time! Began to grit my teeth! And I wonder.... do the Amish believe in modern firefighting equipment? Or do they insist on using leather buckets and prayers?

as long as they do not touch the equipment the MN community is fine with modern gear.

@@JPF941 I beg to differ. The only thing I personally know that the Amish cannot do is operate the apparatus and interior firefighting (requires Air Packs ie: Beards). Hauling hose, throwing ladders, exterior lines, all can and do have Amish members doing them. This may have changed but this is what I know. The only thing I am not sure about is the use of the "Jaws of Life". I hope someone to be corrected if I am incorrect.

I am from the Concord/Penacook area here in New Hampshire and ALL of the Fire Vehicle's here including ALL the POVs are all the same color light's - Red, White and Amber and our local Police Vehicle's are ALL Blue Light's, including the unmarked vehicle's too, so you can see why i'm confused.
@LCBC64013 жыл бұрын
@@DreadWing7777 here in Lancaster county our police car light colors are red and blue, volunteers once they have reached a interior level, or at our dept it’s called black front, you have the option to put blue lights on your POVs, and ems is white and red, then some fire police lieutenants, and captains have the option to run red lights, and our fire chiefs and deputy chief are able to run red lights with sirens. But in other places I know like Virginia you are not allowed to run blue lights because that is the color light police use, so it really depends on where you live. And also those POVs are NOT police.
