What I've found surprising, is reading that many people living in Brooklyn actually spend their entire lives there and never even venture outside their borough to take advantage of all the wonderful things found in the other boroughs. Lincoln Center concerts, the ABT, NYC Ballet, world-class art museums, the main library, Broadway musicals, restaurants, Central Park and their summer concert series, Summer Streets in August, Chinatown, the Highline... they could be living anywhere, if they don't take advantage of all of it. And the cost of living would be cheaper if they lived elsewhere, too. It's been said "use it or lose it."

@Afraz Explores Wonderful video, once again! A few highlights if I may ~ 15:00 Jefferson High School. My alma mater. Then you went northwards thru Sheffield Avenue where I grew up 19:30 Public School 190 20:00 large building to the left used to be a branch of the Williamsburgh Savings Bank ~ I still have a calendar card from that branch from 1972. The large building across the street to the right used to be a synagogue. 26:13 Schenck Avenue ~ pronounced "skank" 26:24 Old Dutch Reform Church. Second oldest parish in Brooklyn. Now changed to a Methodist church. Many original Dutch settlers buried in its graveyard. Across the street from the church is the New Lots Library. Its director in the 1970s and 80s was Miss Lee ~ a little lady from Indonesia who was very scholarly and who fought invading fascists during World War II. A remarkably brilliant lady with whom I had a couple of really nice conversations a long time ago. So nice to see that many of ENY's streets are nice and clean. Hopefully, some day all the street crimes will be ended so that everyone can live in peace and comfort. 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤!

@𝙏𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙢𝙖𝙣 At 32:50 you asked if this area (East New York) is "an old part of town?" Yes it is. I grew up in ENY and know the area very well. It was part of the City of New Lots along with Cypress Hills. In 1898 all three joined with Brooklyn & Queens in the Great Amalgamation or Great Consolidation by becoming part of what is officially known as The City of Greater New York. Sadly, it did not have a great reputation as it was considered the murder capitol of the USA. But there are many great, productive, hard working people who live there. Decent citizens who pay their taxes and help make the USA what it is.

I lived on E 14th between A & B, lived next to Bed-Stuy, lived in Queens... I actually felt safe on E 14th because Brown Berets rented the storefront below me. I grew up in NYC just like you. Afraz' experience would be richer if some landmark structures were identified in Comments, even if it's by viewers.
