‘Arco’ bass where the bassist sings and plays is quite common , players like Slam Stewart, Bob Haggart, Major Holley.Lyn Seaton, John Clayton sing along while plucking or bowing their instrument. ; very effective.

There is a gentleman called Paul McCartney who does this too. Started modestly in the sixties but improved a lot singe that and plays bass guitar most of the time but with the same elegant ease as Nicki Parrott.

Nicki, you have my complete respect, and some love too. I play a 3/4 upright, mostly for Bluegrass and Country... and many think I'm pretty good. If they only knew. When I step over into swing and jazz, I start breaking apart, and that has to with hand position... I'm trying to get better. Don't even ask me to sing... to me it's like I need two different brains. Shanghai is a great city in the daytime, but make sure (especially if a foreigner) you get inside by 9 pm...just sayin...for safety...the streets get a bit weird late in the night. Nicki plays bass well...singing is wonderful.

If we hadn't direct microphoned each instrument, plates and cutlery and talking is ALL you would hear (LOL) ... some viewers have commented that they were able to hear the music better watching the video than sitting in the audience. : ) ... but yes, if the ambient restaurant sound is absent, the video would seem strange.
