They're not close. He has the wicks name because everyone thought he had the same dad as Simon wicks, Steven beale's biological dad. Turns out he was pete beale's son, so Ian beale's half brother. So cindy had affairs with pat's two sons, Simon and David then married david's half brother Ian. Lorraine shouldn't let him off easily. He should help to raise joe. She shouldn't do it on her own. He owes it to his son
