Rather him than his awful brother. I didn’t mind Juley during some of the Ruby/Johnny Allen stuff, not that it was really my cup of tea but I didn’t think it was too bad in 2005 because at least then there was some sort of bigger point to it. But outside that part of the storyline he was awful beyond words (especially when all that Sasha business was kicking off). Just really poorly-contrived as a character. At least Gus was down-to-earth.

It was more because of his complex post-traumatic stress (army days) and the fact that he inherited some of Jean’s illness. Coke was just a random accessory that came and went. Ditto for Chelsea but it’s not like she was anything other than a normal black girl all-in-all. Not that race has anything to do with anything when it comes to stuff like that but there’s a bit of a misconception that only a certain type of messed-up black person snorts cocaine and that’s just not true. It‘s usage is concerningly-common in many circles but either way it was no more of a reflection on Sean’s character as it was Chelsea Fox. It was just a clutch that happened to be there at a certain time in their lives. And given what Lucas got up to do (both in his prime and on-screen) it’s not surprising that Chelsea had some issues with coke.

Considering how much of an alcoholic Jean used to be (which we even saw vividly on-screen during her earlier appearances) and the fact that she used to smoke loads even at this point in the game, the fact that she was that naive about the white contents of that bag was so unrealistic. It would be more believable that someone with her illness would’ve been coked-up at some point back in the day (as is often the case). How would she not know?
