Ian was trying to aim for Tom cause he kicked the ball in his nose but Tom ducked before Ian kicked the ball and smashed the window and scared Jim while he was collecting the glasses in.

They did make up eventually. Ian was gonna be best man when Tom and Sharon got engaged, only for Tom to go out in a blaze of glory while trying to rescue Trevor from the house fire.
