I think each actor brought something unique to the character Ben, that have made Ben whether you love him or hate him one of the most original male characters in soap history but Max Bowden"s portrayal of Ben will always be my favourite .

Max Bowden was by far the best Ben and is irreplaceable. His talent and dedication to the role were truly impressive. Ben isn’t an easy character to play, being riddled with trauma and not always likeable, but Max portrayed him brilliantly, showing how a traumatic upbringing can impact a person into adulthood. His storylines, especially around mental health and bulimia (which was sadly missing from this video for the most part), resonated with many. There's a reason his character and the Ballum pairing became so popular when he took on the role ❤️

there isn't enough representation of men's mental health struggles on tv so it was great to see a popular character like ben navigating his issues in recent years. despite everything he went through, ben never gave up. however, i really disliked the parental responsibility/adoption storyline. The optics were awful-ben had a supportive husband, and his bulimia shouldn't have been used as a plot device to portray him as an unfit father. this storyline reeked of ableism and homophobia, diminishing his marriage to callum. callum also deserved to get parental responsibility after taking on a parenting role for years. nevertheless, max bowden nailed the role of ben, making the character his own and making ben impossible to recast. no other portrayal even comes close so when ben returns, it has to be max so ballum can get the happy ending they so deserve.
