How did you incorporate the clay from the back of the egg to the front?

I incorporated the clay in stages. After decorating the inside with clay, I waited for it to dry, then applied it to the outside. In areas where the extrusion was too narrow, I filled in with additional pieces of clay. In places where the back and front were joined, I smoothed the clay with a wet wipes :)
