Tinos is a really fascinating island. It’s one of Greece’s holiest places and is a must-visit destination for religious Greeks and other Orthodox Christians. There are over 1,000 churches in Tinos.

Driving reminded me of going from Aigio to my cousin’s village. It is 5,7 km from the bottom to the top of the mountain. Twisty turny road with no guardrail. Verrrry interesting, and I’d do it again tomorrow if I could. I miss Greece so much.

Fabulous to see the Easter celebration footage… that huge parking area by the port certainly comes in handy. Did you see the giant 4/5ft candles for sale? The mosaic in front of Panagia Evangelistria must be the largest we’ve seen on our travels. Also a shot in the arm to see some of the villages and that fabulous field full of spring flowers/orchids. The dovecotes of Tarampados are stunning, aren’t they? I took lots of photos and need to choose one of them as a pastel painting subject. That was great - thank you.
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Aren't those candles amazing! I watched people bring them in to be lit in the church. It was so green and it was surprising but Spring on the islands is different than summer. I would love to see that painting!

Volax is another word for sphere. It is called like that because the rocks are somewhat spherical. You should have gone to Pyrgos cemetery. It is a small piece of art. Too bad you didn't visit Komi. There's nothing great about Komi but I was hoping you would have bumped to some of my relatives and it's the village I love the most. I miss Tinos so much. Truly excellent vid.

I don’t know if you noticed but on the alley you’ve walked to the small theatre the house on the left it’s wall is a boulder. A few houses in Volakas are completely build in between these boulders. Onto Ano Ysternia there is the church of St Catherine which is magnificent. It’s temple is made of sculptured marble even the ladder that leads to where the priest makes his speeches is also out of marble. It’s considered an engineering feat and mystery how the sculptor that set it up managed it to stay intact as everyone elses collapsed and broke into pieces.
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
I did notice the boulders! They are so interesting. I didn’t make it to Ysternia as the road was too much for me. That sounds amazing though.
