55:00 Eostra goes into the underworld for winter and she leaves her Hares behind to guard her sparrow eggs until spring. That is why we have eggs and rabbits. Praise Eostara

great job! it´s important to explain that there were many kinds of sacrifices.. like here in the uralic north they often sacrificed a reindeer by letting them live instead! which means that they were dedicated to a specific god, serviced and dressed in ornaments until they died of natural causes (or just got eaten by wolves or wolverines). one of the reindeer was actually dedicated to the Mother of the Wolves, each species having their own protection spirit (which in itself speaks of respect for life). but they also did a blood sacrifice in both spring and autumn.. which to me is just eating a reindeer with the gods (or ancestors as they are more commonly known here). because they mostly ate reindeer meat, so it´s the "with gods" part that was different, from a regular week (also the together part is important, eating together, with those visible and invisible). they did respect life, but in a natural way i would say, because in a setting where everyone eats everyone else, death is constantly present. I recently passed the death part in our folklore, it took me three posts.. I have currently like 1200 posts altogether, you know what the rest is about.. it´s Life! :)
