Just ordered half pound from them told the wife and kids just dump them in the tank, now I'm second guessing that with the leeches

Good luck the plant leeches are pretty harmless, just put them in a 5 gallon or tub and rinse them well letting them settle for a few minutes the leeches will stick to the bottom and you can rinse and repeat.

Not sure how true it is for the water level needing to be just a couple of inches. I have had blackworms live in my tanks without issues hiding from my fish. It honk it is more important to have water constantly oxygenated. Cleaning out the dead and removal of the leaches is a pain. I plan on farming blackworms whenever my lfs gets them back in stock. Apparently the prices has gone up.

Making an updated video soon! They don't need the shallow water. And yes the leeches are so nasty and terrible for your aquarium fish. Prices have been going up for the last year. Good luck on your farming!

which temperature are you cultivating them in? I have plans to set up a system in my basement.. but during the winter its only 61-63 degrees (16-17 celcius) would that be working without a heater?

They would enjoy that very much! The cooler the better.

I just started mine and not sure if they are eating yet… I have seen videos where they swarm on food pellets but mine don’t seem to care. Just got them…does it take a few days for them to settle and start eating?

May take a few days to settle in. Make sure to take out any uneaten food. Mine prefer algae tabs and used up cattapa leaves

@@fishrfriends thanks for the reply! They did start eating algae wafers (go crazy for them actually) they don't ever touch blanched zucchini though... I started with 1/4 lbs in about 3.5 gal of water I have a ton of filtration but still am having to do daily water changes they seem like a huge bioload! I feed 3x a week a single algae wafer broken up and spread through the container. Are these guys just a huge bioload or do I need to figure out how to get more water volume?

Can aquarium fish eat the leeches?
@fishrfriends4 ай бұрын
Some can! Bigger fish are less at risk of getting a leech attach. I keep them away from smaller fish as they can cause issues. I've heard they are not good for shrimp either.

I thought leeches were black or very dark brown?

These are plant leeches!

Black worms!

Blood worms can cause problems in many critters feeding them daily. Fat content is too high. Blackworms have lots of protein but less fat. I bought some yesterday for my new planted tank with African dwarf frogs
