Eastern Canada Cruise on Norwegian Joy - Saguenay, Québec

Our first port of call on the cruise was in the Saguenay Fjord. It is known for being the southernmost glacial fjord in the northern hemisphere. We docked in the La Baie sector of the town Saguenay. La Baie is a more industrial area of Saguenay marked by a large bauxite processing factory but does have gift shops and the like right on the pier. There are shuttles to the center of Saguenay some two miles further up the fjord.
After talking with other solo cruisers the night before, I decided to join them on a bear viewing excursion mid morning. It turned out to be pretty warm away from the port and we did not end up seeing any bears... what can you do ??
Anyway, we had an early all-aboard call so I did not get to explore beyond the immediate area of the pier but the fjord itself was pretty amazing. We were told that beluga whales often congregate at the confluence of the Sageunay and St. Laurence Rivers but unfortunately, it was dark by the time we got back there.
