It should also be borne in mind that out of 11.5 million Soviet losses, 3.5 million were soldiers who died in German captivity. The Germans deliberately did not provide them with adequate food and medical care. According to the Nazi Ost plan, the population in the occupied part of Russia had to be reduced by 20 million and Jews, Gypsies, communists, military personnel and their family members were the first target for destruction. Some people be praising Stalin fpr defeating Nazis while he literally murdered Tuchachevsky who was responsible for the modernization of the Soviet army, while being friends Budionny who thought "they will call for cavalry" when the war will break out and was soundly defeated at the Kiev pocket in 1941. Both Stalin & Budionny were also partly responsible for the Polish victory over the Soviets in 1920. It is Żukov and some of the other generals the who actually stopped the Germans. And of course the sheer numbers of soldiers that were sacrificed with all the native & American resources in the first place of importance.

Churchill also made quite a bit of mistake and people still praise him highly for his persistence, same goes for Stalin. And I do not understand your intention of bringing up Tuchachevsky in an argument on why Stalin should not receive the praise that he does on winning the war. You should be arguing about policies or decisions that were made during the war instead, and not some killing of a person that you think was not justified or deserved.

His distrust and misuse of the military in the beginning almost got the nation destroyed. Until the whole army was nearly operational, he did what he only knew how, and that was keep the political authority centralized. He was good at that, but in a nation that was under Czarist rule not too long ago, it wasn't out of the political zeitgeist that the people were able to rule any other way.

Lend-lease for Nazi Germany How American companies supplied Hitler during the war. On October 1, 1941, the first lend-lease protocol was signed between the United States and the USSR, which received American assistance in tanks, aircraft, fuel, products and other materials. However, American companies generously supplied their own enemies, Germany, with all this. Business - and nothing personal. American components for the Faa. In August 1934, American Standard Oil acquired 730 thousand acres of land in Germany and built large oil refineries that supplied the Nazis with oil. At the same time, the most modern equipment for aircraft factories was secretly delivered to Germany from the USA, where the production of German aircraft will begin. Germany received a large number of military patents from the American firms Pratt and Whitney, Douglas, Bendix Aviation, and the Junkers 87 was built using American technologies. By 1941, when the Second World War was raging, American investments in the German economy amounted to $475 million. Standard Oil invested 120 million in it, General Motors - 35 million, ITT - 30 million, and Ford - 17.5 million. "When American soldiers invaded Europe in June 1944 in jeeps, trucks and tanks produced by the "big Three automobile" as a result of one of the largest military programs ever implemented," Dobbs notes, "they were unpleasantly surprised that the enemy was also moving in Ford trucks and "Opel", manufactured at 100 percent subsidiaries owned by GM, and flies planes built by Opel.

@@enriqueperezarce5485 On the eve of World War II, US corporations and banks invested $800 million in the country's industry and financial system. The amount at that time was huge. Of these, the leading four from America invested about $ 200 million in the militarized German economy: Standard Oil - 120 million, General Motors - 35 million, ITT investments amounted to $ 30 million, and Ford $ 17.5 million. It is shocking that even after the United States entered World War II on December 11, 1941, American corporations continued to actively fulfill orders from firms of enemy countries, supported the activities of their branches in Germany, Italy and even Japan. To do this, it was only necessary to apply for a special permit to carry out economic activities with companies under the control of the Nazis or their allies. Decree of the President of the United States of December 13 , 1941 he allowed such transactions, doing business with enemy companies, unless there was a special prohibition of the Ministry of Finance of America. Very often, American corporations easily obtained permits to work with enemy firms and supplied them with the necessary steel, engines, aviation fuel, rubber, radio components… So the power of the military industry of Germany and its allies was supported by the economic activity of the United States, whose companies received super profits for their deals with the enemy. @@enriqueperezarce5485 For the successful preparation of the war, the Nazis considered it extremely necessary to weaken Germany's dependence on the import of iron ore. In Germany there were several iron ore deposits with 20-25 percent iron content. The development of such poor ores was considered unprofitable. Nevertheless, on the basis of these deposits, the construction of three plants with an annual steel production of 6 million tons began, which accounted for a third of all steel smelting in Germany. Officially, the work was carried out by the Hermann Goering concern, but in reality they were carried out by a specially created American firm "R. Brassert." "This company," writes the English economist N. Mulen, "until then almost unknown in Germany ... turned out to be closely connected with the Reich's "autarchy" in the field of supplying it with iron ore - one of the main elements of economic independence in the production of weapons." The firm "R. Brassert was only a branch of Brassert's large Chicago firm, which collaborated with the Morgan American Trust. Under the terms of the cartel agreements, American firms had to inform their German partners about all the technical innovations they were interested in. The numbers in this video are problematic because they come from two very different studies. On the one hand, the study about Soviet losses, Krivosheev, has been consistantly critized for giving an estimate that is too low. On the other hand Overman's study about German losses has been critized for being too high. + None of these books gives accurate numbers about the losses of the smaller Axis countries. Lev Lopukhovsky and Boris Kavalerchik book "The Price of Victory" does the right thing: putting 2 high-end estimates against each others and discusses about the minor countries losses.
@RouGeZH2 жыл бұрын
@Victor Varganov According to Overmans, around 4 million soldiers died vs the Soviets due to all causes (5.318.000 during WW2), including around 363k recorded POW death in USSR. Due to Overmans methodology many men that died after the war are included in wartime deaths, and his numbers needs to be lowered by a few 100,000s but it's impossible to know how many exactly. Swedish historian Niklas Zetterling wrote an article about this in his book "Normandy 1944". According to the "Price of Victory" the Soviets made 1.415.000 German POWs up to May 8th, 1945. My pick on German total of "irrecoverable losses" (dead + POW): 4.000.000 dead + 1.415.000 millions POWs - 363.000 dead POW (to avoid double counting) - 200.000 (to reduce Overmans overcounting) = 4.852.000 and not 5.676.000. If we add dead + POW of Axis minors (numbers from TPoV) we get + 404.100 dead (not including POW deaths) + 634.600 POW = 5.890.700 dead & captured Axis soldiers (corresponding Soviet number with Polish/Romanians/Finns/Bulgarians allies is 14.654.000). Not counted are millions of cases of wounds . Total losses dead + POW + wounded are around 11-12 millions for the Axis and near 30 millions for the USSR and its smaller allies.

Understandable though. When you're caught between two titans slaughtering each other, you choose the one who wins. If you stand with the loosing one, you won't be slaughtered, like he will. You will be annihilated. Romania choose what's right - the lives of it's people. Which is kinda respectable even, due to the time when human lives costed exactly zero.

The Soviets would still of lost more, non German axis troops made up a relatively small percentage of total axis troops, especially in the later phases of the war when the German casualties were the highest

@@maximilianeller9259 What documents can you back up your words with? Or you just heard propaganda somewhere and decided to voice it again. At different stages of the war, this figure reached 40%, discarding almost half of the losses, this is not bad)))
