Welcome to the 2nd part of my Eastern Roman Empire campaign.
The Western Roman Empire has fallen, but in the East the Eastern Roman Empire lives on and is now on its way to reconquer the lost territories.
The main target of this episode is the Eternal City of Rome, and soon a wild war breaks out over the capital.

I give my esteemed greetings to the Imperator of the Romans, Basileus of the Greeks, Nobilissimus, Perpetuus and Princeps Konstantinios. It seems my last suggestion to the esteemed House of Leon and the Senate was dismissed. Truly a shame, but I understand that recapturing the Eternal City took priority. As such, I come today bearing new suggestions to bring forth the same glory that your grandmother bought the empire. First and foremost, we must continue the reconquest of Italia proper! We can not stop until the cities of Ravenna and Medollanum are once again under Roman Rule. To further aid this goal, I propose we vassalise the Illyrians. Secondly, I believe a period of peace is needed. The empire has been plagued with wars and I fear that the stability of our laws and civics has faltered. I urge you, emperor, to ensure that our Economical and Diplomatic competence do not fall to a state of disrepair. Further more, we should prioritise on building up the holdings that the Emperors' directly own so we can be stronger against rebelling vassals. Lastly, I propose we wage war on Francia once this moment of peace has ended! Those barbaric fifth slaughtered our roman-kin in Soisson and they deserve retribution! Hail Basileus! and Dominite of the East. Your Conquests show great promise and I thank you for taking my suggestion and adding the greeks into the roman fold. I suggest finishing the conquest of Italia and attempting to Vassalize the illiyran romans as there Forebear Julius Nepos was the last western roman emperor who showed promise of fighting the barbarians. There are now omens among soothsayers and monks in Constantinople that enemies gather from the south and these great enemies shall rise to Challange Rome. Perhaps it is the people of Kush and Nubia and Axum.....perhaps its the Tanukinids the Arabic tribe that has been our vassals in the past.........perhaps its something else............ Whatever the threat is The Proviences of Palastinia and Aegyptica must be placed in the right hands and fortified against outside threats! I know youll do what you think is best and I leave the rest in the Hands of Christ.

Hail Basileus! While I do think retaking northern Italia is important for Romes glory. I do think we should prioritize two other things more. One we should have a period of peace and two we should focus on getting a foot hold in southern Hispania. 1. As other senators have said such as Senator Arishok, if Rome is to survive we need a time of peace to rebuild Romes stability and economic situation. And while that may not be as glorious as a huge conquest, but it will be vital in Romes long term survival. 2. As a few other senators have said I think we should gain a foot hold in Hispania. I personally think we should do this after some peace and that foot hold be in southern Hispania. I think it should be there is because it would be useful in the re-taking the entrance to Mare Nostrum. Ave Basileus! restitutor Italiae! May the lord smile upon your reign as it has upon your ansestors. While the restoration of the great empire in the west brings great glory and honour upon yourself and Rome, the pace of the conquests and the heretical resistance of the barbarians lording over our rightful subjects has greatly strained our resources, and I fear the fagility in our borders leaves our reclaimed provences vunerable. The great cities we have restored to our rule, Roma and Carthage must be rebuild and restored and be reshown the light of the roman ways of life and the light of God. Truely their prosperity could guide the rest of the empire to renew the wealth and growth that will pull us out of our current struggles! Following this I feel it is only prudent to extend our controlled buffer zones around Roma and Carthage to ensure there is no repeate of the devistating fall and sacking of the cities that reveiled the vunrability that plauged, and overcame, our old western brothers. I also hear rumors from my fellow senators of some sort of threat in the east, overblown nonsense I'm sure as we have ended the last true nuicence to Rome from that part of the world many years ago. But should any fantastical enemy from arabia or persia suddenly apear then do remember who we are. We are the people of Rome and the rulers of Greece! The blood of Agustus and Alexander Runs through your veins! Their will pushes our armies to the greatest of glories! Stand strong and brave, ride out to crush these supposed pretenders to our power and none shall be able to stand in your way!

Hail Augustus! and Dominate of the East! I thank you for enacting my suggestion of reconquering the old roman provinces of Africa and Italia, one step closer of restoring mare nostrum. However, the barbarian-controlled Corsica and Sardinia has proven to be dangerous thorns. If we want to reconquer these thorns, we'll need more legions, more soldiers and perhaps hire mercenaries if it comes to it. However, I advice against taking such action, as the barbarians has the means to hire thousands of mercenaries as well and the Empire cannot afford being crippled for a third time. Therefore, I suggest we should reconquer the rest of the old roman provinces of Africa, Hispania and Italia. Furthermore, I consider that Corsica and Sardinia must be destroyed.
