I know that many viewers aren't able to hike for varying reasons so I wanted to create a video of locations that are all accessible by vehicle (during the non heavy snow months). No hiking required. These are spots everyone can enjoy and all very beautiful....including 4 lakes within the June Lake Loop. PS: Filmed before the current California lockdown.

My dad took me, my siblings and mother to June and Silver lakes for vacation when I was a kid, we stayed at the Carson Creek Inn a few times, fished in both lakes and took horses up to Gem lake which was north west just above Silver lake about a 4 mile hike, I was about 12 years old the first time, simply loved it. We caught tons of 7" brook trout in Gem lake, every cast yielded a fish. As a result of the trips I fell in love with the Sierras and camped there every year through high school and beyond. The memories poured back while watching your video, the clean crisp air, the icy and crystal clear waters of June lake which we jumped in from the south part of the lake, the only beach on the lake as I recall and the anticipation of waking up at 5:00 AM to go fishing as a child was my favorite of all time. Oh yes, the drive you showed with June lake below on the right, I will never forget seeing that for the first and last time. Thanks for posting this Catherine. I have a feeling you love me.

June Lake Loop is one of the most spectacular drives in the Mammoth area. My brother and I used to trout fish the lakes there. I worked and lived in June Lake for a year. I fished all four lakes and Rush Creek. There are trails that you can hike up into the Sierras to places like Fern Lake. Also lived and worked in Bishop for a few years. To top it all off I had 3 Silver claims just north of Lone pine with a nice little cabin that had it's own year round spring. I know the whole area well. Flew my hang glider from Walt's Point to Janies Ranch many times. You're in my back yard.

Catherine, we're really lucky that the shoulder season is so exceptional this year -- a photographer's treat! And just as the roads are starting to come under winter's gaze, the backcountry has also been an iffy proposition for some weeks now. Hello again Catherine... I didn’t make the June Lake Loop when I was down on the Eastern Sierras... My brother & I rode our bikes down to Yosemite this year... He and my other brother had permits to climb the Half Dome, and when the Park opened, we rode down to Lee Vining, CA. I rode up to Tioga Pass with him, and while I couldn’t enter (no permit), it was incredible... I continued on down to Bishop, and met up with him at Lee Vining three days later. Those three days were amazing. I camped under the stars, me and my Harley... and watched the world spin. I did ride up to Lundy Lake. I loved Bridgeport... and camped east of there one night. I also rode up to Bodie... the Eastern Sierras are special. I travel lite... two saddle bags crammed full of clothes, gear, water & some food. I love primitive camping, it’s primal. Where being exposed, means we rely on the basic of gear. You face your fears, and use your senses, both common, and developed. Heightened, and alert, and alive. You can appreciate the beauty around you more... when you smell the sage, hear the coyotes, and warm to your smoldering fire. A quick jump into a frigid creek, and your fresh for the new day. Prior, make sure hot water is reaching it’s boil. Instant Starbucks helps warm your core and prevent the danger of hypothermia... Brrrrr & Yumm! Thanks again for your infectious video content... have a safe and memorable journey. Randall
