One memory is coming back from a lap and across. The Nullarbor, overnighting in Eucla and did a straight-through to Perth (wedding to get to)… at least 50 degrees on the tarmac, no aircon… another story… Stopped for a fuel break on Kondinin and did the left hook to Brookton… about 1km up the road was a water tanker spraying water on the bitumen, thought it was weird until I got past the truck and realised that the tarmac was MELTING! The truck was trying to cool it down… sticky crap all down the sides of the Delica… hilarious at the time, hilarious in my memories of the life on the roads. 😂

Nothing like a bit of melted bitumen to enhance the car's paint job :)

You will be close to our farm out that way north of Hyden. It’s a good year so far. Just have to escape the frosts.

Yes, it got quite chilly on the nights with no cloud cover. A few farmers hoping for a little less rain at the moment but most seem pretty happy so far.

Great video. Kondinin is pronounced by us locals as kon - dinin

Thanks, we use a Phantom 3 Advanced with the Litchi app software. Works a treat BUT it does take up a lot of room.

Why there is less population in wheatbelt

Many country areas in W.A. have small populations. As farming methods have become more mechanised, the rural populations have decreased over the years.

Two main reasons… economics and opportunity for the kids… Lived in Quairading as a kid when the population was around 900 in the district) even a few folk living in Dangin and they still had a post-office… now Q has a district population around 600… small farms got absorbed into larger operations that were economically viable (little Massey tractors when. Inter711s were the go). The other reason was kids going off to school in Perth and not coming back to the farm. Girls found city boys to marry and farms with more than one or two sons couldn’t afford to divide the operation so the boys stayed Perth and married city girls. Evolution. It’s hard but nothing stays the same as much as we wish it would. C’est la vie.
