自分にとってとても大事な人が先日、長い闘病生活を経て亡くなってしまった。 別にKZbinにコメントしたって生き返らないし、何も変わらない。 でも、その大事な人が大好きだったという曲がこの「ソンゲントジユウ」らしい。 これから沢山聞いてみようと思う。 どんなに良い行いをしたって、願ったって、祈ったって、もう会えることはない。 今はただただ悔しいし、病気が憎い。本当悲しい。

恥ずかしながら先週になってようやくアルバム「SONGentoJIYU」聴きました。それからというもの毎朝起きたらこの曲たちを聴いて、自分の人生のことに向き合います。色々な視点がありましょうが、このアルバムは、イースタンユースのエネルギーの最高の結晶のように思えています。他にも感慨深いアルバムはありますが、朝聴くなんてできませんでした。うまく言えないです。でもアルバム本当に傑作でした。これからのイースタンユースも最高に違いないと感じました。とにかく、ここに来てこんな良いアルバム作っちゃうかね、イースタンユース。という感じ。…最高な人たちです。

学生の頃よくあるバンドの一つ位にしか感じなかったというか、あの頃は海外のバンドカッケーみたいな時期だった。 アラサーになった今彼らの音楽をこれでもかというほど毎日毎日繰り返し聴いている。 詞がメロディーがとにかく胸に刺さる。腹の底からの叫びに共感するしそれが生きる糧。 これからも聴き続けるし、新譜を心待ちにしている。 そして先日の野音は凄いライブだったなと思う。 まさに伝説。けどこれからもたくさんの伝説を作ってくれるんだろうな。楽しみ。

FYI this one is saying they never give up to live even if there is bad fate is wating for him which goes against his intention. I can't find the entire lyrics online, but it's more or less about staying true to yourself, never giving up your dignity and freedom, and living your own life according to your own terms, because it's the only one you have, despite the struggles you face. The song title (ソンゲントジユウ | 尊厳と自由| Songen to Jiyuu) translates into "Dignity and Freedom". From an interview I read that the reason the title of the album this is from is in the roman alphabet, "SONGentoJIYU", is because he really wanted to go with that theme for the title but felt just having it as "尊厳と自由" would be stiff, so he tried making it into a play on the words "Song into Jiyuu" (Song into Freedom). Hopefully this helps!
