Matt,as usual you knocked it out of the park with this video. Lol, but you cracked me up with your attire,and the jabberish at the end was over the top. Merry Christmas from Crockett, Texas.

A great review of a great gun Matt. The grade 5 in particular, would grace any competition and still be a joy to shoot in the field. 🎅

well what can I say Matt, you have just made my Christmas ,,,brilliant as always, the only thing I think that could improve that gun is a beaver tail forend. As a very famous expert once said (men like to get there fingers in the grove😂😂) . PS dear father Christmas I have been a very very good boy😉😉

Merry Christmas Matt and happy New Year. Thank you for your great and informative review on the MK38. I happen to have a 1979 3800 SW which I love and reluctant to change to the current MK38. Your comment regarding the variation in weight factors especially on the grade 5 is interesting.

Merry Christmas Matt and team. We don’t see many MK38’s here in NZ, plenty of MK10 and MK70’s. My MK10 has ventilated barrels as does my TR6000. Another great review of another great firearm.

2022/2023 sporter versions have lighter barrels than previous MK38 sporter versions. The new version MK38 sporter barrels 32" are 140g (5 oz) lighter than the older 32" sporter barrels. The new sporter barrels weight about the same as the 32" fixed choke trap barrels version. The previous 32" sporter version was to front heavy, the new version is a very well balanced sporter.

Thanks Matt for the great review since I am considering the purchase of this gun. The issue with the variance in weights with diff woods, is especially interesting to me. In 2023 I purchased the Browning CXS 12 g, 32 in, and the Miller’s 425 American Sporter 12 g, 32 in, with grade 5 wood. The 425 is oil finished and the CXS has Browning’s usual lacquer finish. The CXS is heavier. I prefer a heavier shotgun. The only dealer in USA who sells the MK38 is in New York. I called him today. Greeting from Naples, Florida!

Merry christmas Matt, The mighty Miroku, to me they are the ones who all others are measured, no matter how much more you spend you aren't beating them. in Aus you can get into a grade 3 for less than a silver pigeon, i'd say we get the Merchandise as browning never really had a foothold here where as Uk is browning dominated, so it's probably not allowed by them

Have a Mk38, about 20 years old, which I bought about four years ago. Find it excellent, plain wood but then it is a grade 1. My daughter has started clay shooting and we found a nice Mk70 that fits her well. I think you'd have to spend a lot of money to buy something that is much better.

Great review as always Matt.I tried an MK 38 but it was too high in the comb so the dealer said try an MK 70 which was just right and in grade 5 too.
@eastfieldgunroom8 ай бұрын

Thank you for your comment. Are we talking about sporting clays? Kind regards, Matthew
@1valg8 ай бұрын
That is such a great gun. The engraving is just right. I will never appreciate a tulip foreend on a sporter. Beavertail should be the standard. My own personal one would also always have an adjustable stock. Merry Christmas.
@fullchoke018 ай бұрын
Each to their own i prefer the schnabel shape give me a more direct feel on lead hand vs beaver tail feels more like i am dragging the front of the gun on fast targets
@1valg8 ай бұрын
@@fullchoke01 Have you tried the middle ground, the english style foreend? Usually people with smaller hands find them easier to handle.
@fullchoke018 ай бұрын
@@1valg i have tried a rounded style on different guns, i have quite large hands i just don't get on with beavers, find them too disconnected from barrels, its all a personal thing as we are all different

Another great video! For me, a grade 5 MK38 with 30" barrels and Teague chokes would be an excellent choice for a clay/pheasant shooting crossover. Beware the man with one gun... Sorry, that logic may not be in the best interest of sellers of guns. ☹ 🤣Lastly, how many glasses of port did it take to get you into that costume? Maybe that could be the next question you pose to your audience! 🤣🤣 All kidding aside, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Prosperous New Year!

Hi matt, great content as always! Id like your opinion if you would, im looking at buying an mk38 but ive also seen a nice 3800 sporter teagued, ive shot a couple of 3800 trap guns and got on well with them. My question is which one should I go for?
@eastfieldgunroom7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and kind words. The 3800 is a legend of shotguns but many have been sporterised (stock flattened/lowered. Both very good guns but have different handling characteristics. In addition the 3800 will presumably be a much cheaper alternative. I guess it comes down to application, fit and budget. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Matthew
