I love that this trial is quiet and non-dramatic. And so precise! These women on this prosecutors side are soft spoken and don't do all that peacocking I've seen so many lawyers do.

I wish she would be less snippy.. She comes across as smarter and wiser than anybody else including Judge Boyce. I see Judge Boyce gritting his teeth a little when she argues with him and doesn't seem to know when it is enough. Can be a turn-off.

Lori’s attorneys seem unprepared, dull, inexperienced, poor communicators and frustrated in my opinion!
@CatholicHousewife2017 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the Prosecution was repeatedly got caught not turning over Discovery to the Defense Teams in a timely manner - so if they're unprepared, that's no surprise. The Judge "handled" the lack of timely Discovery by severing the Cases of Chad & Lori & simply removing the Death Penalty from the table rather than Dismiss Lori's Case right before it went to Trial. The Prosecution also violated Lori's Constitutional Right to a Speedy Trial. It's 100% on the Prosecution dropping the ball repeatedly in those areas, if any Guilty Verdicts are overturned on Appeal.

Yes, Americans are so educated that they understand all the laws for murder trials in all 50 states. But I guess your understanding of murder trials is limited to a tv show, something for a smaller sort of complex brain, eh? The fact that the complexity of this particular murder case escapes you, could probably be based on your own lack of preparation. Ya think? So, I know it shouldn’t really matter, but since you’re unsure of what’s going on inside this trial, I’ll write just couple ditties… The US has one of the least fair justice systems of all. Yes. Ya know, when compared to the other 160+ “free” democratic nations. We have the most incarcerated citizens, 1 in 10 are innocent of any crime, 68% are non violent crimes and we don’t have affordable lawyers or enough court appointed lawyers. Despite the defense being court appointed, and the case being huge, and already judged by the court of public opinion… Not to mention this ridiculous corporate Mormon religion/cult that marries little girls off to old men - Just like all manmade religions, the men are the ones with all the power and they set the rules and they invent falsehoods and continue with a history of violence, insanity and stupid interpretations. Other than all that, any unpreparedness boils down to a manmade religion and any other murder case. Crazy senseless red tape, poorly educated Americans and overpaid prosecutors. Yeah, so as you find fault in things you don’t understand, maybe consider that in this ridiculous white nationalist country it’s a hateful and foolish system, based off of profits over people, a refusal to separate church and state and the constant brainwashing about a jevus, bootstraps and American exceptionalism. Ugh, propaganda. I bet ya didn’t consider that the judge and lawyers, clerks and courthouse cops and all those jurors were also LDS, did ya? But surely you know this? The Mormons of Rexburg are over 95% strong. Geesh, that’s a lot of LDS hanging out in the court house. I’m sure they’re all prepared and honest… Again, her defense is not unprepared. Though, they weren’t her first attorneys and there’s also that little hiccup about complexity, 3 states with different laws, and something about lots of murders! Dun, dun, dunnnn…. This is one of the most complex murder cases to date - educate yourself

There’s a reason why they are paid so much, they have to be constantly sharp, eloquent, focused, intelligent, strong in character and presence. It’s a very tough and demanding job in my opinion. The more I see of these trials, the more I gain general respect for them.

@@Hash9980 Me too. I would drop at the end of the day and yes, they have to be all of what you said...some of them get carried away, at the same time , so much work and definitely have to have a sharp methodical mind. Asking this detective to read the whatever is ridiculous! It’s like a teacher continually calling on the kid in the back of the room who needs glasses. Embarrassing! For the first time this prosecutor blew the questioning. (imo) It may appear differently if we were watching this, but we’re not, so for me everything after a ‘search warrant and search’ findings were lost on me.

Drinking game - take a shot of whatever you’re drinking every time Smith says umm… you’ll either be really drunk or really hydrated depending on what you’re drinking! On a serious note, as a professional, she could benefit from a public speaking class to polish and up her game. The ummms are very distracting to the audience and I’m sure the to jury too.
