​​​@@shelleyharris4176, a stroke doesn't necessarily mean a severe decline over that time period...depending on the location of the clot, it could only slightly affect one's movement or totally disable the person. The fact that he gripped the cane next to him points towards him being her husband (since caregivers tend to need to be in decently good health to assist their clients)...and the cast/sling on his other arm also shows this.

This "Secret Santa" - whoever he or she is - is the most compassionate, most caring, and most generous person on the planet. And he/she could not have chosen a better team to represent him/her and bring relief/support/hope to all these deserving recipients of these amazing gifts. I have been watching for several years - now in my 4th year here in Thailand since I made it my home after I retired - and these EIN videos are absolutely the best part of the Christmas season. Giving is "the reason for the season", and nobody does it better that East Idaho News and their Secret Santa. God Bless the "Secret Santa" for giving hope, comfort, relief, encouragement, support, and joy to every one of the deserving recipients that you bless each week. You, truly, are a saint! They got it early so all signs are good and she is in remission and at the end of the pills and what not. So when i need to gather strength myself i look for videos like this.

I was very touched by the story because I had a stroke in 2021. I know how very difficult it is to have a shower or a bath after you’ve had a stroke. After my stroke, I couldn’t stand up in the shower so I needed to have a bath. And because the stroke was on the left side that affected my arm and leg it was very difficult for me to move around in the bathtub and try to get out of the tub. I am very glad that my husband is a big muscular guy and he was able to lift me up out of the bathtub and help me get out. he is my main caregiver and thankfully, I have somewhat recovered from my stroke after three years. I know a remodel bathroom for this couple will be so helpful to her and her husband. I hope they both have a very merry Christmas.

It seemed like they thought he couldn't understand them or something. I guess people often don't know how to interact with stroke victims. My father had a stroke at age 49 and lived for 10 more years so I know. That experience made me able to interact with others such as those with dystonia or other speech problems. People SO appreciate it when you interact directly with them instead of being afraid or hold off-ish.

Watching from Vermont, secret Santa and the east idaho news team always get me in the spirit for the holidays. I wish every place on earth had a secret Santa who did this for those in need in their community. If I was able to I would love to do this for mine, unfortunately I can not however I pray that some day my small little town gets a secret Santa and can help me get some teeth so I can eat, it gets harder every day. I cry during every single one of these and I can feel not only the recipients joy but their relief of stress.
