I ran across two of these used four years ago for about $1400 each. I bought both, but wised up and sold one to someone who actually plays jazz...I don't. But the appreciation that I have for this guitar is the acoustic sound - it isn't harsh or closed off - it's bold and clear and woody without being dull. They are incredible guitars. I doubt many or any will ever show up again in good condition for $1400 thanks to covid changing the market, but they are probably as good as anything. Both of mine were a little older - still very straight. Very stable guitars, well made and executed not just in the making, but in the selection of stable wood, too.

Damn, $1400... and I thought I got a great deal, haha. Yes, wood and steel at their finest.

@@jjthomchickmusic I just found one for $1500 but the guy decided not to sell. Still trying to get him to let it go. It's missing the pickup ($200) too

Great playing, and gorgeous instrument! Concerning the Thomastik 11s, did you need to adjust the truss rod after changing out the stock roundwounds?

Thank you! I've gone back and forth between flats and rounds a few times and never needed to make an adjustment.

I have an eye on this guitar, fantastic playing by the way. One question : I noticed why the sound of guitar changed immensely at 3:24? Sound like you did unplug it? I'm interested to hear this model unplugged though since it's made by solid top / back / and side.
@giantoon2 жыл бұрын
Oh I just noticed you put 'Acoustic' up there! Thanks!
@jjthomchickmusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, at 3:24 I removed the amp mic, so all you're hearing is the guitar's acoustic tone as well as the Karma Silver Bullet can pick up. Same thing at 4:20.

@@jjthomchickmusic Hey thanks for your answer. May I ask if there are any side dots on this guitar? and on which frets? Since there are obviously not any fret dots on the fingerboard, and I never had a chance to get my hands on this guitar before. Sorry for asking detail question, but would be appreciate your answer.
@jjthomchickmusic2 жыл бұрын
@@giantoon Yes, there are side dots at the usual 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th frets. You can kind of see one at 2:01. They're very clear and helpful, even if you're accustomed to inlays on the fretboard.
@DrJoshGuitar3 жыл бұрын
What a beauty! Great playing, and what a great classic tone! Is it harder to play a guitar with no fret markers? I've never tried..
@jjthomchickmusic3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You know, on this guitar I feel fine without inlays (there are dots on the side) but it's bothered me on other guitars in the past. My 7 string doesn't have inlays and I do get tripped up every now and then. Also my Cigano (gypsy jazz acoustic) has a marker at the 10th fret instead of the 9th - that made me a little dizzy at first, haha.

do you, or any of your viewers know what the "9" part means in the naming scheme? I get the rest of the nomenclature, but what does the 9 mean please?
@jjthomchickmusic2 жыл бұрын
The "9" models have a floating pickup, the "8's" and below have mounted pickups.
