I have been hesitant to approach mandolin, even though I play fiddle and a little guitar... I just dont like the choppy sound of the mando. I sing, and this gives a nicer sustain... worth investigating

The octave mandolin is a mandolin tuned one octave below the standard mandolin (gdae) whereas mandocello is a mandola tuned one octave below standard mandola (cgda).
