Easton Made 12-22 6 way Wedge vs Wicked Wood

Today we give our @Eastonmade Wood Splitters 12-22 another test with some large nasty rounds on the 6 way wedge. The Easton Made splitter as expected just blew through the rounds, even sending a particularly large one flying off the wedge after the first split.

Those were some TOUGH pieces, but I think the 12-22 could split just about any pieces of wood you threw at it.

Awesome video I have a 2228 in addition to a box in a six I also have a four-way wedge That stuff you were splitting with your six way really needs a four-way. Also on your box wedge sharpen the edge just a leading edge trust me on this it’ll be a whole new machine

I usually put them nasty ones on the burn pile. That big a$$ splitter handled them very well👍👍

I would of had to run most of that thru the single wedge to break those chunks down some.

I have to agree with the others that a tall boy 4 way is the way to break down that wood into useable wood without creating too much slash. Best to make boiler wood with that stuff.

After watching that I’m glad I got the tall 4 way for busting up the nasty stuff. Haven’t gotten into that stuff yet, so it’s mainly been box and 6 way.

I think the big pieces can be more easily handled and controlled with the fourway or even the single wedge. The six way seems to crush the wood a lot. Great video by the way.

Not the easiest wood to spilt but with regular pieces things work great

That is some narly pieces Harry! Have you though about using a single wedge? I do a lot of time on thos narly ones. The dont get stuck and pieces come out decent. Your 6 way is a beast though.

Am thinking of getting the 5-11 with box wedge only to do campfire and bundle firewood. Is a budget issue. The 12-22 is on average 3sec faster per cycle with the box wedge in comparison to the 5-11. Not a big deal as I'm not out for maximum production speed.

That would probably do you pretty well, but like I have demonstrated with my thought process I am trying to get through lots of wood in a shorter period of time.

Next time use a chain and the pusher ram to pull the really stuck rounds off the wedge.
