i would die for a version of your videos where its just ambience and footage of you walking. I love the commentary and the education of these locations but your camera work and audio work is just transient sometimes and i wish i could sit back to enjoy it specifically. 30:12 i mean cmon, listen to the background and look at that view. When i began focusing on the visuals and audio your voiceover spooked me cause i was just so fixated on it lol oh btw if you do make a no-commentary cut of your videos try to cut out the parts where people get weirded out by a guy pointing a camera at them, breaks the mood and ends up making me laugh lol

From Dundalk, also had a Polish grandmother take me here as a kid. I remember KB Toys, Walden Books, EB Games when it was still Electronics Boutique, Spencer's, the old Aladdin's Castle arcade, and even a pet store at one point. But I also remember actually getting lost with my cousin when our grandmother stepped away for a second, and we had to track down a mall security guard in order to find her. She'd take us and we'd buy plastic cop toys, handcuffs, guns, maybe an NES game if we were lucky. Kind of funny how stories can overlap like that. But then again, I guess this part of Baltimore was pretty historically Polish.

Dundalk native here---I worked for Hutzler's in 1976-1977 at Eastpoint Mall. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. Every customer received personal service by the employees and it wasn't like today's herding the customers through the checkout like cattle. The entrance to the food court was actually the main entrance to Hutzler's.

@@sal I worked for a contractor that gutted the old Hutzlers for the food court. The old Hutzlers was built like a fortress. We used Bobcats to knock down the walls and they put up a hell of a fight. Surprisingly, the Hutzlers had no windows so it was pitch black inside.

I really like this series. This was the mall I used to go to as a child. I loved the arcade and Electronics Boutique. Forgive my faulty childhood memories, but I think Ames was present in the mall before the remodel and the addition of Sears. Keep up the good work.

I have lived in Baltimore all my life around this area, and this mall has been my whole childhood. I have never seen all of these areas in the upstairs and downstairs before!! I remember there was a Sears, DSW, Shoppers World, and an Applebee's here. Learning that the place where my dentist since birth is used to be was an ice cream place is kind of funny.

I’m only 23 and the decline of this mall, my hometown mall, has been so sad. For decades, Eastpoint was the only thing to do in Dundalk. Now, the mall is basically a ghost town. Many, many memories of mine stem from this mall. Dundalk gets a bad rep and I hope something can be done to turn both the town and the mall around. Thank you for this. Seeing my childhood, my parents childhoods, my grandparents childhoods, and even my great grandparents childhoods - all over a screen in heavy detail - was very special to me.

(half joking / half serious) Dundalk had a bad rep even before you were born. I remember we had this one neighbor on our street (West Baltimore County) and they put up fake stone ie Dundalk style and my parents were very annoyed. Everyone else had "normal" siding materials. I'm pretty sure they were from East Baltimore County. Though, I think my parents could have forgiven the siding, they weren't that friendly either.

I was a small child, living in Dundalk, when Eastpoint was a shopping center, in the late 50s, early 60s. I remember those poor penguins and monkeys. Of course, as a small child I was delighted to see them, every time we went shopping. Now, I am disgusted those poor birds and animals had to live that horrible life. Also, back in that day, Eastpoint had a trampoline park, off the North Point Blvd side. My dad used to take my brother and I to that park and it was such fun! Your video takes me back!!

My mom used to talk about the penguins and monkeys. I grew up in Eastwood - we were in the city, but the county line cut through our rowhome block. I remember EP used to have this odd Christmas train display that was enclosed, but you could press buttons to make different trains run. While we lived close to EP, my parents preferred taking us to White Marsh, and we moved to Perry Hall in 1991. My dad helped in construction on White Marsh Mall. It's great to see EPM still open, even if it is dying.

My aunt lived in Baltimore, and my father would always take me to Eastpoint. I loved it. I remembered when it was just a small outdoor shopping center. And I remember when they built another part of it facing the original stores. Then they put a roof outside and made it a mall. I am wondering how the Key Bridge collapse will affect business there. It was so nice to see the mall again. I also remember a hardware store, but forgot the name of it. That was before it became a mall.

I remember going to Eastpoint back in the 60's as a kid. This was before it was enclosed; just a "shopping center". Then, years later, I remember the penguins and Monkeytown. Now the whole area around that dead mall is Monkeytown.

I don't even recognize this mall. I remember in the seventies going to Eastpoint Mall and visiting the Magic Box. They had all sorts of magic tricks and props. The selection of stores today is horrendous. I can't imagine it being worth the trip. Great video and narration.

Not sure if you have been here yet, but another mall you could visit is the St. Charles Mall in Waldorf MD. It's about an hour away from Baltimore. My mother still lives down there and she heard that mall is dying, and eventually it will be turned into either a ups or amazon warehouse hub. The mall was originally built on swampland, so the mall has been slowly sinking over the passed 20 years. A lot of the shops are gone now. It used to be blue and beautiful with a water fountain and a Disney Store. Originally built in the 80's and it opened in 1990.

You should check out the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, it seems to be doing okay. One of the anchor stores is now a big fitness center and another has become a big modern arcade. I can remember back in the early 2000's when it still had an old school 80s-90s arcade and I still remember the smell of the pretzel stand near the center of the mall, and the car shows they'd have in the parking lot in the summer

I used to go there when I lived in Canton, which was not far proximity. Even 15 years ago it was looking pretty dead, but the aesthetics kept bringing me back. Rad is correct! I don't think you should be too hard on yourself about the old vid. Sure, it might not be as great as others, but I think for most vloggers, unless they were already professional videographers or editors, there is a natural evolution in the body of work. And also, you have fans that appreciate all your content and will watch everything regardless.

You should do an episode on the country club mall in lavale (cumb) md. It’s a dying mall. The only anchor is Walmart and it has a hallway that’s always blocked off so they kinda don’t associate with the mall. The mall is almost completely empty

Rivergate Mall, in the suburbs of Nashville, TN is another mall that is basically kept on life support. More money gets put into building maintenance than anything else, and it draws travellers from nearby I-65N or S. It's basically a giant flea market at this point.

Those hot pants, those bright yellow hot pants... They will haunt my darkest nights. I'd be pretty dismayed seeing monkeys and penguins at the local mall. That's why I go to the zoo or aquarium. There are more interesting specimens to watch while mall walking. Was the Shopko a different entity from the eponymous discount chain? Such a generic name! Kohan, Moonbeam, Namdar and Hull -- the four horsemen of the mallpocalypse -- will never learn. It's nice to see all the local tenants keeping the mall going. Don't know about you, but I'm tired of every place looking the same, with the same stores. There's not much point in patronizing places like that, as far as I'm concerned.
