If not working properly / for higher rates (lvl 30 + 11 stacks gunpowder per hour) - set simulation distance on 4 chunks - set game difficulty to hard - check for nearby caves in a 60 block radius to the player (if you didn't build the farm above an ocean nor stacked up 60 blocks at the beginning) - use a looting 3 sword - set difficulty to peaceful and then back to hard to let hostile mobs outside the farm despawn - build all 6 platforms - check that no light is inside the farm - lighten the roof to prevent mobs from spawning there

For whatever reason, torches on the roof were lighting up the farm. My solution to anyone having this same issue was to place slabs. It's a lot of slabs, but it eliminates all unwanted light leakage and mobs can't spawn on bottom slabs so it solves that issue. Great farm James!

Is anyone else getting spiders in the farm? They are killing the rates.

A tip for people building this farm: make sure you are building it in an OCEAN biome, not a RIVER biome. I know it can be a little confusing to tell the difference between the two biomes, however, there is a website called Chunk Base and on that website, you can put in your seed and which version of Minecraft you're in. Also, if you put your coordinates in at the bottom of the website, it will tell you where the closest biome you want is. Creepers don't spawn in river biomes, so if you were like me, and confused as to why it didn't work, you probably built it in a river biome, not an ocean biome. Hope this is helpful to some people.

yes but it’s better to just add more layers to the original farm and remake the big platform with slabs after your additional layers

Once you got all max layers, this would be an option. Make sure to place your AFK spot in between them. Also, creepers will spawn in a 24 to 44 block radius, if that helps.

looting III is automatically applied to the trident as long as u holding the looting III sword while the trident machine is on

Does height matter the other direction? We built up 128 block initially to be sure we had none spawn elsewhere. Got the whole thing built and nothing will spawn. All trap doors are in the right place and been double checked....

Actually you can save resources and instead of the trapdoors put buttons into the holes. Works the same but cheaper.

@@eternalz9847 for me it was 81 trapdoors for the floor, 100 buttons, and 180 trapdoors for the celling. so if you want to build 6 floors like in the video you will need 24 stacks and 30 trapdoors and 9 stacks and 24 buttons.

Yeah, I recommend 100 blocks to be sure everything despawns.
