I wish neat, tidy hairstyles like this were still in style.

Why do you need something to be in style? Rock your OWN style! We're not in junior high. We don't have to conform to anyone else. Back in earlier eras. fashion dictates were quite rigid. I noticed that in the '90s everythiing relaxed. I bought bell bottoms from a thrift store and rocked them on the cusp of it becoming popular again. I have seen acid washed stuff recently, which was big in the late '80s. Nothing seems engraved in stone--U do U, boo!

@@myheartisinjapan3184 LOL--show us pics! I think the '40s had some weird hairstyles but this one was pretty straight-forward, in its own way. Bring back those hats from the '40s that tipped to one side! 🤣

Thank you. I wasn’t even going to watch this because, well, it’s about a hairstyle but this was fascinating. Loved it. I didn’t exist during this age but I can see how this is one of the things that contributed to ladies taking so long to get ready. All Men need is a comb to run through our hair a few times, and really, your fingers will do in a pinch. It’s nostalgic to picture this when I see old movies or pictures of my mom when she was a young woman.

This reminds me of Phoebe on Charmed wearing a snood for a couple of episodes. They look great on, and the exposed hair you can do pretty much anything with-whatever you’re feeling. Gorgeous look!!!!!💗💐

All those bobby pins! Snoods go way back to medieval times. They've managed to exist for all these centuries. Very nice demonstration of a hairdo which looks quite complicated.

Uschi Tech oh it’s really not all that time consuming, really. She was just going slower to show how it’s done properly. I do a kinda similar thing every night before bed bc I use Wen and part of the thing is no heated tools...so at night u put ur hair up in pin curls, kinda like this but bigger and more of them...takes a few minutes to do that’s all...it takes longer to pull out all the Bobby pins in the am, but then I just fluff and go...no curling iron or straightener...super easy and fast plus no breakage. I kinda think the Wen guy got a lot of his protective styling ideas from these old styles, but they actually work. Give it a try💐

They actually had little pillow like things, called "rats" that you wound your hair around to get the look. They would collect their own hair and form it into the long pillow shape , or if they could afford them, they could buy or even make them. These were especially beneficial if you had fine or thin hair. This is one reason why the actresses's hair always looked so perfect in a movie back then. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

@@fairyharmony8766 well I don't watch them everyday. But when I'm in the mood, I usually get high & watch whatever is on at the time. There's so many, that it's hard to pick a favorite. I guess they would be Ann Sheridan in the Man Who Came To Dinner, Joan Crawford in Grand Hotel, Barbra Stanwyck in Baby Face & Julie Andrews in Thoroughly Modern Millie. What about you?
