I spent my 20's and 30's doing everything to escape Indiana. Now in my 40's I'm back and excited to find all of the amazing things in my home state! I'm considering a project of visiting all of the little museums I can find. Thank you for inspiring me!!!

A HUGE HOOSIER HOWDY!! Need a pit stop. Try Oldenburg ( the oldest German settlement in the state).just know the streets are in German. Get a German beer and great food from Brau Haus.. or if you just need a friendly stop without the ppl.. come on by. We always have a cold drink to offer and a quiet moment with some laughs.

Welcome, Deb! Back when I covered the museum, I entered the transportation building, asked if it was ok to film, and the lady said it was fine. I then went to the main museum, and was stopped by security. The Museum Director had me sign a form saying I was making a video for KZbin, pay a use fee, and then escorted me around the facility, telling me what I could and couldn’t film. The planetarium was not allowed. Out of 7 years of KZbin, it was the only time I felt handcuffed to promote a good museum. “You can film here, but not everything.”

As someone who grew up in Southwestern Indiana, I absolutely enjoyed this video. I am very thankful that I have been to every community you mentioned. Especially liked your mention of my hometown of Mt. Vernon along with the John T. Myers Lock and Dam and Historic New Harmony. Even I knew what it was, You never actually stated what the rock formation was near Shoals (which is the Jug Rock). The Shoals High School athletic teams go by the name of Jug Rox. Even though I live in a beautiful area of Texas, I still very much miss the natural beauty of Southern Indiana.

When I was a child in New Albany in the early 1960s, the Carnegie Center was the library. Actually, sitting on the retaining wall at the sesquicentennial parade (1963) was when I found out that teachers are actually people too. I was in 5th grade and my family were sitting there to watch the parade. And who should sit next to us but my teacher and her husband! What kid would ever imagine that teachers did stuff like watching parades - or have a husband like regular people!

I am encouraging people to move from over crowded expensive parts of the country to beautiful places like this. Why isn't Indiana or Iowa or whatever more crowded?
