Also, I am a person who like her books to be neat and clean, not ripped and torn, etc. You do that so well. (I love it when you slip into a southern accent!) LOVE the ASMR at the beginning of each video. For me, it erases any stress and anxiety I am feeling. Love your beautiful nails and rings. Your entire video is always a feast for the senses. I love love love this insanely amazing book! This book, never been read, is now a SCULPTURE that will be admired by many! Readers digest books are diluted versions of the original. What you have done is the opposite of diluting: the love, the care, the embellishments make the book stand proud on a mantlepiece or bookshelf and DEMAND attention. As a book lover, I am so happy for this book, and I definitely want to make one for myself, too. Thank you for sharing!

I love this and so glad you shared. I did a roladex type book for thanksgiving. And this is perfect for my Christmas decorating. My kids and grandkids love looking through these at holidays. I am also ok using books that might wind up in the land fill. In fact I look for these at thrift stores. I only go to thrift stores that are a charity based so I know it helps the community. I do not go to Goodwill. But old books are a treasure!
@JennCadyFiddlyBitsАй бұрын
I know what you mean. I have stopped donating to Goodwill since they became more “corporatized” in their practices.
@rkug777Ай бұрын
My local goodwill has lots of great stuff for crafters. I’ve been lucky to find brand new unopened top brand stuff and this week some huge wood block stamps for $1 each. But you’re making me pause… goodwill creates jobs for many people and they provide training etc. So I thought I was helping by going there. What other thrift stores do you go to? Salvation Army? I have some issues with their practices…
@tootsie2Ай бұрын
@rkug777 we live in a rural area and 2 closest small towns have thrift stores which help support senior citizen centers and food banks. Habitat for humanity is another good one. Goodwill is owned by a corporation and though they employ people the majority of money goes to individuals and not to people who really need the help. If you are a thriftier who buys to resale, then goodwill can have some good things. My Habitat Re-store even gives Bibles for free. And their money mainly goes to help build houses for people in need. There are other thrift stores that support abused women and children homes. Libraries have sales and free give aways. I just prefer to buy from some stores that benefit local.

Love this. Reminds me a when I was a child in the early forties, my brother and I looked forward to receiving the big fat Sears catalog every year. After we looked and wished every page to death, my mother, a very crafty lady for that time, would show us other ways to use it. My favorite was to fold every page top down from the corner like you did and make a circular tent-looking book. I remember using it for a door stop. We decorated the tops lightly with cake- coloring. Thank you for a version similar to my childhood memories. I must call my brother and tell him.

I love your ideas for giving books destined for the landfill new and vibrant life. Don't let anyone give you grief for reclaiming and repurposing old titles! I am the "book picker upper" for several local thrift and resale shops. They get so many donated to them and they don't have the time, space, or volunteer power to deal with them. I sort them, sift out the good ones for actual resale, farm out the genre books to clubs or people with those tastes, use suitable ones for making journals, and donate the remainder to libraries, nursing homes, and senior centers. Fewer than 1% end up in the trash -- which is where all of them were headed otherwise.
