thank you SO MUCH for this video! I'll be referring to this trying it out myself. Ever since I switched to natural nails, I still loved the look of French ombre. I thought I'd have to sacrifice that. The only ways I've known it can be done is the traditional powder method (most salons do it this way) but I wanna stay away from powders or I've seen the airbrush way (which isn't common in most salons). I was looking into builder gels from the gel bottle and then BAM I saw you achieve the French ombre with your naturals nails and just gel polish!

Have fun! Let me know how it comes out. Don’t underestimate how many times you need to bounce the white onto a flat service BEFORE you bounce it onto the nail. Otherwise, the colour pay-off can be too intense and you won’t achieve that airbrushed finished to white ☺️👍🏼

Very good tutorial. Thank you very much. Would you advise how you clean the Puffer (Sponge) to use it next time? thank you
@ShonaghScott5 ай бұрын
I simply dab it onto an acetone soaked paper towel and repeatedly stipple the sponge until the paints more or less gone. You can expect some residue to remain in terms of colour but the surface will go back to being sponge-like. FYI - I use them a few of times before moving onto a new sponge.

Your nails are so beautiful and I absolutely LOVE this look. How do you keep your cuticles so perfect? I have very dry skin, drink tons of water but it doesn't help.
@ShonaghScott2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! It’s quite likely just genetics when it comes to cuticles. I don’t do anything specific to keep them like this, it’s just how they are 🤷🏼♀️ If you go to a nail tech often and they always trim the cuticle it will become tough overtime, not sure if you see a nail tech.

So you use builder gel as your "Gel" polish? I understand you do not extend the nail with the builder gel. What is the reason for using builder gel rather than regular gel? You nails look beautiful. Just wondering if Builder gel would be longer lasting than the regular gel or dip powder that I have on hand. Thank you. New at this, and so far, dip and/or gel is lasting at most 5 days! :(
@ShonaghScott2 жыл бұрын
You can extend the nail with builder gel but you need a form, a form is a sticker that sits under your natural nail tip and sticks around the finger to support it while you build on it. Sort of hard to explain. You can layer the builder off the natural nail and along the form, once cured you can remove the paper form, leaving you with an extended nail to continue to build upon. You can use regular gel polish over the top of your builder gel, the purpose of it is to strengthen your natural nails. This lasts me until I either remove it or build on top of it as an infill.

Thanks Linda, I appreciate the kind words! I pop a little acetone on kitchen paper and then stipple the mini sponge up and down until the residue comes off. It doesn’t need to be completely free of the paint colour just make sure the majority of it has gone.

Hello there, kindred spirit! :) I am eager to try this technique, although I am not a nail technician, I just do it for fun. Can you, please, tell me what to do in case of severe itching at the fingers level? I keep getting this when using the lamp and UV gels/polishes. Do you know of any treatment for this? I keep getting this itch every time I have my nails done at home or at a salon. Thanks!
@heatherfisher615010 ай бұрын
I recently learned that you can become allergic to gel polish if it gets on your skin. I have started keeping a small container of acetone and a brush next to me when I am applying the gel and I clean off any that gets on my skin before I cure it and this has cured my itching.

Why do you use the thin brush on the side of your nails after you apply the builder gel?
@ShonaghScott Жыл бұрын
To pull the gel gently into the side walls of the nail-bed. The brush in the bottles is too big to pull down the side walls and often deposits too much gel in this area, making them thicker and risking the gel pooling in the side walls.
