I almost didn't post this tutorial because I did a lousy job cutting out the Ocelot but, hopefully, the techniques I demo in the video help you with your compositing nonetheless. I think everyone will get the idea of what to do, understanding that you did a rushed job just to show the steps. It does seem tedious but shows what is possible.

Hi Anthony. Yes, the end result looks pretty false, (Too much of a focus difference between foreground and background) but we get the idea.

Thank you, Anthony. Your videos are always informative and well produced. I think I might have opted to redraw the whiskers in this case rather than try to mask them.

Thank you for this tutorial! I just did a similar one with a horse, but I used a photo of a field as the background. Instead of gaussian blur, I used the tilt/shift filter to keep the foreground in focus and blur the distance.

Thanks for doing this video. I needed it after watching the video last week on swapping backgrounds. FWIW I appreciated your struggle with the whiskers. It's not unlike my struggles to refine selections. I just thought I would never be able to them. Now I realize it's just part of the process, so thanks.

Adobe has done impressive work with its Neural filters and Sensei technology, easing the application of various photo editing features in Photoshop. I look forward to their use in effectively, easily and quickly masking difficult areas as shown in this video.

Great video Anthony; you have talked me in off of the ledge. For a few weeks I have been trying to remove a fennel branch with flowers from its background. Every time I get close, the AI undoes my last 5 minutes of effort. Now I know to use the dumb brush; how appropriate for me.

Thanks, Anthony! I'm still trying to learn PhotoShop. It's a daunting task, but with your help, I'm getting there!

Thank you Anthony. Just what I needed. I have tons of studio work of dancers on white or black and I want to mix it up with alternative backgrounds. I'm thinking just classic canvases for starters. I'm going to search for a software package that offers a good variety. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks again!

Great video Anthony but I must be doing something wrong as I cannot get my new background layer to appear as a layer on my selected subject . When I get the move tool and try tp drag it over the other image the whole picture moves as I am dragging the mouse and when I press shift and release it just opens the same background layer up again ? any help on what is going wrong

I read that as “Replace with wall foliage.” 😂😂 Another good tutorial Anthony!

Why is it that sometimes PS tells you that you have to rasterize before proceeding when trying to do an edit?

Dropped all things Adobe three years ago so this tutorial does not apply to me. Please indicate PS, On1 or Luminar in start screen. Have watched many of your tutorials and hope you do more of On1 and Luminar neo when it becomes available.
