if you want to make it easier to frost the pupcakes just dip them in the frosting twirl them abit and then take them back out. it saves time and it still looks amazing. the dogs are angels by the way and happy birthday memphis

Beets are the answer. Using beets actually started around WWII to make the color of the cake more appealing. Versions from the mid 19th century were not as vibrant but still gave a reddish hue due to how cocoa was processed and reacted to acid (in this case buttermilk).

They are so cute! We have a really big dogsledding race here in Norway, Finnmarksløpet, the longest one is 1000 km long (around 621 miles) and this year was the first time a person finished with only a full malamutes :D
