Why do the batteries die prematurely, if they are utilized as a backup source?

As you pointed out in the video. Most replacement batteries are 2.56" wide where as the one you need is 2". The thing is, the 2.56" wide batteries are everywhere. They are higher capacity and much cheaper (about half the price) of the 2" batteries. But this means is that it it is bettery to plan and buy the UPS that use the 2.56" battery or try to retrofit your UPS to use the 2.56" battery (if it is feasible).

Yes, that’s true, and I did adapt the wider battery to my unit. Being an old redneck, I keep black duct tape for just such an opportunity! I simply put the wider battery in (9amp as opposed to 5.5) set the cover on the unit, and worked the duct tape magic!

Had my UPS die today. Found 1 battery replacement that is 2" wide on amazon. It's from NPP:6Ah but should fit. I bought it, we shall see when it gets here. $27. New UPS, same model is $79 at Best Buy, so I'll try this replacement first.

As I type this, there is a seller of a 2" battery for ten bucks less than the battery in this video. Not too hard to find if you search for the model # of the original battery.

What would happen if i made some cable extensions/adapters and hooked up an atv battery instead of the intended one?

Having trouble removing cables from posts and rather disappointed that when the video got to the point of hooking up the new cables to the posts, that part flashed by at high speed.

I agree, I’ve have spent 10 mins now and I can’t remove the wires. I feel like I’m going to damage the wires

After spending almost 30 damn mins trying to remove the cables I will do what no one here will tell you, how to remove the cables off the old battery. After trying to wiggle and pull out the wires till my hands turned red, I decided to grab a flat head screwdriver and smacked the plugs out! So with the unit unplugged, I placed the screwdriver tip in front of the plug and hit my palm against the back of the screwdriver. The plug popped out. Your welcome 01:19

If you have a few minutes you can usually sell them to a recycling place for a couple bucks.
