When the "KISS army" was announced in the Rock And Roll Over album with offers for merchandise, i lost interest in KISS instantly for some reason. It turned me off somehow. I had never seen that done before. I felt, believe it or not, 'insulted" because most bands would offer a poster or something for free, but KISS, they had a whole list of things to sell. I mean, KISS Alive 1 had a big booklet in the record packaging. Anyway, after Rock And Roll Over, i stopped listening to KISS, not out of hatred, but just because other bands interested me more. I was a fan of KISS when nobody knew about them, long before Beth, and i had their first three albums when everyone thought they were just silly R&R clowns. Then Peter and Ace left and KISS morphed into something else that i wasn't into at my older age - i grew out of God Of Thunder and You Are Great Expectations, so to speak, and what ever followed. I still like their early material the most. Many years later, i was at friend's place and on his TV, i saw the now old, fat kiss on stage STILL performing, and i said to my friends, "They're still at it? I thought they broke up years ago"

Thank you so much, Damian for not only your easy to learn teaching style and all the knowledge you've shared with us but also for sharing who you really are with us and your thoughts, experiences, and memories. We should all be more like your friend, Fenton and you ARE like your friend Fenton. You're a guitar virtuoso but you speak with humility and kindness. Your goodwill shines through. I'm sure Fenton is watching you from somewhere and smiling. I lost my Dad a few years back, I know how it feels when a loss leaves a hole in us that can't be filled, but you are honoring his memory in the best way possible, by living in his example. God bless you!

Ah man, I don't know what to say, you feel what you feel best. I think you're like a Rockabilly friend on the youtubes, in a way even tho we don't know each other. Giving us all some inspiration for when we'll play some gigs. I really thank you for the slightly jazzy tune you taught us, called : All of Me. I sometimes use the chords to make a small background progression for when I'll do spoken word with it. It helped me out greatly this weekend, because I was playing at a jamsession. And it's these gestures you make with the life lessons, it kinda makes me realize, there's not only a Rockabilly man teaching us lessons. The Rockabilly man is very human, and has a heart, and values friendship. Fenton would be proud of you, and I'd think oh man, that Fenton was some cool guy being there for you.

Hey Damien, great little tune to have fun with. That A9 chord shape is a fantastic one to move around the neck! I learned that one from Brian Setzer years ago… 👍👍👍 I’m a bit older than you are, probably about 10 years older. But in the late 70’s as an older teenager I had a similar friend I met by working for him. He became like a father to me. After years passed he became ill, and I was a busy young man with a new family and all that. Well I went to see him and didn’t make it in time, he passed away before I could get there. I felt terrible for YEARS like I had let him down. It was heart breaking. I finally realized, that in his wisdom he knew why I hadn’t made it there quicker. He understood my life was complex at that point, with babies, a wife and work, and being a long distance from him. He definitely would understood why I was late. He was such a large part of my life, and even today, some 50 YEARS later, I still remember the things he taught me, and what we discussed and how he helped guide me to becoming a man, instead of a skinny rebellious teenager who thought he knew everything. How wrong I was and he gave me guidance I’ve never forgotten. Thank you for sharing your story Damien. You’re a nice man, I can tell. And you have a kind heart. May God bless you abundantly brother. Though I get the feeling, He already has. 🙂👍
