Starting with Red
Mc 6
R1: Inc x6 [12]
R2: (Sc, Inc) x6 [18]
R3: (Sc 2, Inc) x6 [24]
R4: Sc around [24]
R5: Sc around [24]
Make one additional slst into the first stitch of the next round. Cut the yarn and pull out the loop.
R6: attach black yarn in the same stitch as where the slst was by laying yarn over your hook and pulling up the loop, then sc into the same stitch that you pulled up the loop then Sc the remaining 23 stitches back to the stitch marker.
Make one additional slip stitch into the first Sc of the round you just finished. Cut the yarn and pull out the loop.
R7: attach white yarn in the same stitch as where the slst was by laying the yarn over your hook and pulling up the loop, then Sc into the same stitch that you pulled up the loop then Sc the remaining 23 stitches back to the stitch marker.
R8: Start crocheting in the first white Sc that was made with a Sc then Sc the remaining [24]
R9-10: Sc around [24]
Tie the loose yarn tails together leaving the yarn that you are working off of.
R11: (Sc 2, Dec) x6 [18]
Stop here and stuff the piece.
R12: (Sc, Dec) x6 [12]
R13: Dec x6 [6]
Cut the yarn and bind off with a tapestry needle and pick up the remaining front loops of the 6 stitches and pull tight. Hide the yarn through the piece and trim the excess.
Button
Using White, Mc 5
Slst with white into the first Sc of the round. Cut the yarn and pull up the loop. Put the hook into the same stitch that the Slst was in and place black yarn on the hook and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through (this is a chain stitch). Then in the next stitch over start Sc around. Sc the remaining stitches. Cut the yarn and make an invisible finish/bind off into that first chain that was made.
Tie the yarn tails of the ending white yarn and the starting black yarn together and then sew the button onto the ball where all of the colour changes are. Knot and hide the yarn tails. Trim the excess
