Thank you for this tutorial. Yours are always so easy to follow. I have always wanted to learn the rectangular granny pattern because a large continuous granny square takes too long to finish. I make my blankets 48" wide x 66" long. I'm a little confused as to how I would manage to make a blanket with those measurements using this pattern. Will an initial chain of 66 chains be able to get me to that measurement for the finished project? I would love to hear your advise.
@cathymartin3379
@cathymartin3379 9 ай бұрын
I've heard that if you take your length and subtract the width, that's how long you make your chain, so in your case 66-48=18, you would make the chain 18 inches long. I only know one person who has tried this formula and it seems to have worked, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

I like this pattern but I am looking for a pattern for a Solid Sc Rectangle. I make blankets for the local Animal Shelter so I make my blankets solid so animals can’t get their paws through holes. Please consider making such a pattern. Your tutorials are very good.

I agree as well! I crochet and donate blankets for Project Linus here in Canada and they always request no or extremely tiny holes to avoid those little fingers and toes getting caught.
@cathymartin3379
@cathymartin3379 9 ай бұрын
I've watched several tutorials where they turn the work after each round to prevent the work from having a slight twist which I've seen. Do you not find it necessary? Also, could you do just ch3 in the corner spaces to make the holes smaller? I'd like to try this for a baby blanket but always try to use patterns with no or very small holes as they can potentially catch little fingers or toes 😊
@JonnaMartinezCrochet
@JonnaMartinezCrochet 9 ай бұрын
I don’t turn my work after each round. I like the face of the stitches better than the backs and notice even when they or every other round, But if you prefer you can certainly turn. The corner spaces are again definitely flexible. You can chain whatever number you like best. As far as for babies, I know that’s a thing these days to talk about babies getting caught in the blankets but if the holes are big enough they don’t get caught, they go in and out again. I know toddlers and older kids like to put their fingers through on purpose to haul the blanket around with them❤️ Thank you for watching and commenting! I hope you enjoy making this blanket!

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet thanks for the quick reply. It's actually not a new thing regarding holes for little ones, I've been a crocheter/knitter for over 60 years and has been a concern for as long as I can remember lol. Hopefully one day we will see more continuous patterns with smaller gaps too! E joyed your video.
@JonnaMartinezCrochet
@JonnaMartinezCrochet 8 ай бұрын
@cathymartin3379 I feel like all crochet and knitting as gaps though? So technically only woven fabrics would be deemed truly “safe” for the babies. Especially infants with very small fingers. Like premie. I should look into what the Dr’s actually mean by this and some examples of what is unsafe. This is a very talked about issue in the crochet community because so many people do donate their items. Would this blanket pattern be more appropriate do you think? I’ll leave a link here. The Dc might be still too big causing a finger to go though? 🎉Textured Crochet Blanket Patterns, Royal Touch by BeBaBlanket,EASY ROW REPEAT #crochetbabyblanket kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6OnhKiLe92Fg7c

@cathymartin3379
@cathymartin3379 9 ай бұрын
I was told a formula of subtracting width from length of your finished blanket and that will be the length of your starting chain to keep it to your proportions. I haven't tried it myself, but know someone who did and apparently it was successful. Eg, a blanket 45x30, your starting chain would be 15. Hope that might help!

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet So far, so good. I have ten rows of an ombre, then two rows of aran. Next will be 12 rows of ombre, 2 rows of aran, then 14 rows of ombre and finish with 2 rows of aran.
