I definitely used thick and chunky blanket yarn to make this. Being a beginner, I totally misjudged my yarn size and now I have a giant blue and green dinosaur and I couldn’t be happier!! Great video and tutorial 🥰

So here's a couple key hints for new beginners that I've just been figuring out after having made a couple dozen already. I really wish that someone told me this cause it has been much harder and taken much longer than it needed to be. First off, the size of your needle apparently alters the size of your project. I thought the needle size was only for working with the particular yarn thickness. I broke a needle and started using another one from the set of a different size. Second and most important, crochet loosely on smaller areas. I struggled with the first few rows, taking up to half an hour; I struggled with the limbs and spikes, also taking forever; and my spikes were coming out small. So crochet hook effects project size and loose crochet on beginning rows and smaller pieces. Boy I wish I'd figured this out a couple dozen projects ago. Hope this helps.

Thank you!! I made this yesterday for my daughter, I thought the body was too small, so I added a couple rows of 1sc in each stitch and it looks pretty good. Since I did that, I dad to also make everything else slightly bigger so it wouldn't look weird. She loves it

I’m using a smaller yarn size, and found that my spikes looked quite small so I added a row of (2SC, 2inc) x2 :)
