Just on my husband's side of my family, there are 8 kids and 8 adults to gift. Then my 4 family members and plethora of friends...I struggle financially and time wise every single year. But I lost my job, so I'm going to have more time to crochet, and I learned to crochet and bought like $1,000 in yarn, so I should be able to make EVERYONE's gifts this year.

My favourite book-gift to make is paper-clip bookmarks. You start with a paper clip (a jumbo one, or a wide X-shaped one, or a fancy-shaped one) and start crocheting by crocheting around one end of the paper clip, then keep on crocheting until you get to bookmark-length. The reason why these are such awesome bookmarks is that while you're reading, you can slip the paper clip on the back end of the book, so you don't put the bookmark down and lose it, then you can quickly flip the crochet part over to save your place if you have to put the book down quickly, but if you have more time, you can mark your place with the paper-clip part, and it isn't going to accidentally fall out of the book. It's like the best of both worlds.

Last November my grandma promised some random woman at her church that I could totally make the crochet item she was showing her for her daughter in time for Christmas. It was the most intricate lace weight shawl I’ve ever seen. FOR A TEN YEAR OLD! I busted my butt making a simpler poncho with fingering weight yarn, spent 20 hours on this stupid thing and pushed aside other projects I wanted to finish to make this stupid poncho happen. Then my grandma tells the lady that she actually does t have to pay for it because it’s Christmas. I got a measly $50, after I spent close to $30 on yarn. And the real kicker of it all, the woman never even told me thank you
@kerravonsen28107 күн бұрын
I'm very cross at your grandmother. She had NO RIGHT to do that. If it had been me, I probably would have flat-out said NO, and yes, that would have been embarrassing for your grandmother, but she would have deserved it. Not embarrassing for you, because *you* did not make that promise, *you* did not make that offer, *you* didn't owe that woman anything.

@kerravonsen28107 күн бұрын
Lack of motivation can be multiplied if one feels guilty about not being motivated, because then you start having a lot of negative thoughts connected to the crocheting, which makes you feel even less inclined to do it. You have two choices here: Just Do It, even if it feels like an utter drag and you don't feel like doing it, because at least you would get stuff done; or give up on it altogether, because life is too short to be doing things which make you unhappy.

Scrubby yarn is sooo good to make a body wash scrub/loofah! What kind of yarn do you find best for hand towels? Plain cotton, or something more fluffy?

@@kerravonsen2810 right now I am using Caron funnel cakes that I got in clearance. They are cotton. And mostly I use kitchen cotton because I want the towels to be absorbent. Although I have used mercerized cotton, and it works pretty good. I would use a bulky weight cotton if I could find it for a decent price.

@@CrochetKrisMI Yeah, most 100% cotton seems to be mercerized lace-weight, or medium weight.

I'm practicing plushies. I need to make them neater and more consistent. If you look up the word skein the correct pronunciation is "skayne" . Honestly I cringe when I hear "skeen" It bothers me so much I can't watch the channels where they pronounced it wrong. I have the same issue with creators that say in a tutorial "you're going to " rather than something less bossy and more instructive. It reminds me of kids playing school lol 😂I just can't sit through it

I really enjoy your videos! They're always very cozy. And I'm already working on a C2C blanket. But it's for myself so I have more time. But I plan to crochet a cardigan for my mom. She just has to decide on some colours and then I can get started. But I loved all the small ideas you mentioned in the video. Might try out some of them.

I am crocheting a blanket for my niece as I watch this. I have already finished one for my nephew and coasters and a pillow for my grandmother. I am so nervous about not finishing this blanket and the two others (2 other nephews) by Christmas!
