Since I do not have #5 cotton, I plan on doubling 2 strands of #4 of my existing stash. I enjoy working this cross stitch , so making some of these will be great short projects. Thank you Glenda.

Ooh, this is the kind of project I love! A more economical option for the yarn is to use 2 or 3 strands of regular cotton yarn held tog. as one. I do this all the time. Scrap yarn could even be used. Most of us want to use up what we already have.

Thank you Glenda! An excellent and useful tutorial. I need a few of these, lol! I recently was going through my cotton yarns and found 5 balls of Soho Cotton Chic. Its considered a 4 weight but its an extremely thin #4! In fact it calls for a 4.5mm hook. Consequently I had not used it. So I tried using 2 strands together and its working up quite nicely. Its a good quality yarn, but being so fine, I just didnt like working with it. This worked perfectly! I appreciate being able to use it!!!

I don't have bulky weight cotton but I lie the stitch you used so I'm going to use my #4 cotton and maybe put some insulate fabric between the two layers

I had signed up earlier in the year. I think I got three boxes (1 each month)and had to stop it for a while. I can attest to the fact that each box is value for money. They send the threads and patterns and whatever is needed, eg if it’s a bag, they send strap and closures etc. You also get crochet needles with every box! I loved it but because I already have so much yarn, and other projects, I had to halt for a while. I hope to start up again, but I recommend if you have time.

I don't have bulky yarn, so I used 2 strands of cotton yarn to make mine.They look GREAT ❣️ I also learned a new stitch; the Single Crochet Cross Stitch 😀 Thank You for sharing ❣️ Using the same concept for the SCCS can I do the same thing for Double Crochet Stitches? Or Half Double Crochet Stitches? If you haven't already, maybe you should make a tutorial on how to make cross stitches.They are Lovely 😍 Again thank you for your tutorial ❣️ Love my new Potholders ❣️🥰

Hi Glenda - thanks for sharing this video on the potholders. So pretty colors too! Do you ever put any type of heat resistant material in between the layers so it doesn't melt or catch fire? I've made potholders the ole school way using those square pegged looms - but I don't think the nylon loops were good as they could melt! But they are fun to make and easy even for kids! I was going to try and sew them together and put some type of grid on the back so it isn't slippery and use it for a small rug - just a thought! Thanks again for the info - Happy New Year! :-)
@cperm13 күн бұрын
Hi, there’s no need to worry about melting like the loom potholders do. They’re made of nylon or acrylic which are basically plastic. Cotton yarn won’t melt. They can also be used in a microwave, but not for long periods of heating. Hope this helps.😊
@roxiblair88613 күн бұрын
@@cperm1 Thank you - I appreciate the info - it definitely helps! :-)
@CreativeGrandma3 күн бұрын
You can put a double layer of cotton batting between the pieces or the insulating batting they sell which is heat resistant.

If you use that bulky yarn would that pattern be too thick to use one square as a dishcloth or washcloth, or should I use regular weight cotton? Great tutorial.

I think it might be to thick.

Can you use this stitch with other 100% cotton yarn to make this same type of pot holder?
@CreativeGrandma3 күн бұрын
yes if you use a 4 weight you may have to increase your starting chain multiple of 2 plus 1 example 2 x 10 = 22 plus 1 = 23

Good morning. I don’t have any heavy weight cotton..maybe hold 2 of the 4 weight together….?
@CreativeGrandma4 күн бұрын
You can try it but it might be to thick, if you use 2 (4) weight you might only need to make one piece and then just put the border on it if it is thick enough
