I get 100 lbs of sweet onions every year from my boss and have to find ways to use them before they go bad. I recently found out you can make caramelized onions in the crockpot. I thinly sliced and quartered about 8 large onions and added 4 tablespoons of butter along with a bit of salt. I let them cook overnight on low for about 12 hours. You can even freeze it to use later. Makes a great French onion soup as well. I wanted to make it a little more substantial, so I added a 1.5 lb piece of Chuck roast along with 8 cups of beef broth and cooked on high for about 4-5 hours, then shredded the beef. Was super delicious!

Whenever I get a large supply of onions, I peel and chop them (skins and peels bagged in the freezer for future veggie stock), then I put the chopped onions in my dehydrator. Once dried, they store well in a jar for soups, stews, etc. You may want to do the dehydrating outside, though! I hope this helps 😃

What I’ve read is that the Aura, unlike the crockpot, heats up slowly to temp to avoid causing the outside of the meat to seize up before the inside reaches temp. So when you change the setting the process starts over.

Saving the crockpot liquid from certain recipes has completely changed the way l cook. Those liquids add SO much home cooked flavor to pretty much anything but they are invaluable as soup bases! When l have an over abundance of veggies leftover from the crockpot, l will process them right along with the leftover liquid. So good in future meals! Great video Mindy as usual! 🤗

We loved the jalapeño popper chicken sandwiches! Next time, instead of water, I plan to add some of the juice from pickled jalapeños to bump up the tangy spiciness. So yum. The rest of the bag of Rhodes rolls I used to make calzones and baked them at the same time I made the rolls for our sandwiches! The remainder of the chicken will be used for enchiladas later this week.

The US government subsidizes dairy farming and that helps our dairy products’ prices. (Although dairy prices have gone up here just like everything else.)
@erinlikesacornishpasty47032 жыл бұрын
Idk, cheese isn't all that cheap here either, even with the dairy subsidies. It's definitely a cultural thing, we love cheese! But Mindy uses cream cheese a lot as a kind of easy roux shortcut, I've noticed. My family never uses cream cheese like that, but I like the idea 🤷♀️. Our store brand cream cheese is way cheaper than Philadelphia cream cheese, too. I've hosted several foriegn students, many from Asia, who attend a nearby college and they often are shocked by how much cheese we eat.

How to cook baked potatoes in a crock pot - some recipes wrap potatoes in foil but you can if you want to but you do not have to! Just salt & pepper them and stack them up in the crock pot. cooking time will depend on the size of the potato so try to use all the same size if possible. prick with a fork to see if done. Wash potatoes and prick with a fork. Rub with Olive oil and salt & pepper, place in slow cooker & cook till fork tender. Turn slow cooker to warm! It will depend on the size of the potatoes & your slow cooker on high it should take 2 to 3 hours and on low 6 to 8 hours. To your taste prefer they can go on the grill or broiler for a couple minutes for a crisper skin. Serve with bowls of Sour Cream, Bacon bits, chopped chives or chopped green onions or your favorite toppings Baked Potatoes in slow cooker Prick the potatoes with a fork several times, then rub potatoes with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and wrap tightly in foil. Place the potatoes into a slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4 1/2 to 5 hours, or on Low for 7 1/2 to 8 hours until tender. Baked potato in foil: Drizzle with 1/2 teaspoon olive oil and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt. Rub the salt and oil over the surface of the potato, then wrap tightly with the foil sheet. Place in your slow cooker. Cook the potatoes on high for 4 to 5 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours, until soft.

Hi, I love your content! 💚 I would like to say that the recipe called white chicken enchilada casserole reminds me a little to much to a Mexican recipe called chilaquiles but this one whit the soft tortillas. Instead of doing that, you can add tortilla chips and it would be 100% better! Also, you can add toppings like cheese, sour cream, onion and cilantro. Also the chicken would be a topping too. We eat chilaquiles at breakfast and some times, you can also add a sunny side up 🍳

one of my favorites: Dad's favorite Meal - Bar-Be-Cue Potatoes From the Kitchen of: Alderson Family Favorite Meals Bar-Be-Cue Potatoes For each person scrub & slice a potato in 1/8 inch without cutting all the way through. Put a couple of tablespoons of butter on it, forcing some into the slices while holding potato all together. Salt and pepper it. Put a nice big slice of onion on top. Use heavy duty aluminum foil, and wrap with a roll and seal on top. Repeat foil wrap! Bar-be-cue on grill for about an hour. Bake extras for those hungry people or to use the next day. Can be roasted in 350 degree oven for 1 hour! I usually do two potatoes for each person. Over the years different people in the family (if they are there when making them or tell you what they want have found other things they want in with their potato. Different spices, celery, mushrooms (for me they get to soft), sweet green peppers. What would you want yours and what can you think to add

Jalapeño popper dip, 1 block cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, shredded cheese and diced jalapeños to taste. Toss it all in the crockpot and cook on low all day and eat it as you want! We had some left over one day and had chicken tacos for dinner so we all ended up putting it on our tacos. Now we just make the dip with the chicken and make quesadillas with it!! Soooo good!
