I just now figured out what you mean by value. Learning vocabulary definitions is easy for me... experiencing how to apply the vocabulary is an entirely different thing. I watched this 3 times before what you were doing and what you were saying TOTALLY clicked for me. On the third try, I followed with the same colors and painted. My 11 year old daughter captured it all when she said, "You could use any colors you want. You just need to pay attention to how you paint it." As I blindly followed your directions exactly with the same colors, in the same places, and BOOM. It clicked. I got it. My daughter meant light and darkness of any color. The next thought I had was that you're an AMAZING genius and you know how to create lessons with intentionality and a specific outcome. THAT is some GOOD TEACHING!

Cinnamon, I found some thin chalk that has a sharp ish point in my stuff. However, the point is dulling and I wonder, how do I sharpen the chalk now? Thank you so much!

I've seen Cinnamon use a pencil sharpener :)

you can just rub the sides of the chalk back to a point if you don't have a sharpener that will work🧡

Value is how light or dark a color is ranging on a 10 step scale from black to white. The best way to seen value is by making a picture black and white., Have your daughter take a picture with her phone and guess how light or dark a color is and then have he drop the color from the photo and see how close she came. Its a fun way to see how value and color can trick the artist eye

In this tutorial in step 7 when we are adding the bits of fur to the piggy. Who I love by the way. a bristled brush is mention but being new at this I really don’t know what you mean Cinnamon. I don’t see a reference to it in the information given under the video. I’m trying with one of my Brights. I will be posting my piggy in the group on FaceBook it’s August now. I just had a hard time with this step. Well in truth this one was harder for me but I think I managed it okay. I hope so anyway.
