What's up fellow citizens of the World & welcome back to WINE-O-CLOCK WEDNESDAYS🍷! Today I'm going to NÎMES, FRANCE for the day! Nimes is located in the Occitanie Region in the south of France only 50 kms (30 miles) from Montpellier, which makes it a perfect option for a day trip!
***NEW PATREON PAGE WITH EXCLUSIVE CONTENT!👉🏽 / jordanpatrick
I bought a return train ticket for only 13 euros and another 13 euros for an all inclusive top 3 monument pass which gave me access to:
🔸The Arena of Nimes (Ampitheatre)
🔸Maison Carree
🔸Tour Magne
(and in this video I also visit the Temple of Diane, the "Bains Romains", Nimes Cathedrale, and the streets of Nimes)
I REALLY RECOMMEND VISITING THIS BEAUTIFUL AND CHARMING CITY!!!
Thanks for watching and seeya in the next one, ciao ciao for now ✌🏽.

FYI, the train you took was a "TER". A TER ticket is valid for 2 or 3 weeks. If you had missed your train, you could've taken the next train to Montpellier with the same ticket.

There were so many train options like every 15 minutes...some were TER, some were TGV...amazing how many possibilities you have to travel within the South! I love it!

Califo.Ricain Not until they’re have this pandemic under control. Too scared to travel abroad and get sick. But it looks like you’re taking advantage of the current situation, I see you have the train all for yourself! When I took the train going there two years ago, I was standing as there were no seats available. There were just too many tourists traveling that time.

How lovely! I never knew Nimes was so full of ancient history. Thanks for the shots of the informational signs - I could stop video and read about the monuments. So much Roman History there, I love it. How much was the train from Limoges-Nimes. I gather rail transport in France is efficient and affordable, unlike in the US where it costs alot to go anywhere. I think Nimes is a little gem of the French coast that most tourists miss.
@JordanPatrick
@JordanPatrick 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I specifically put in some shots with the history so that everyone would be able to pause and read at their own pace! There's no train from Limoges to Nimes. At least nothing direct...you would probably have to go first to Toulouse, then to Montpellier, then to Nimes and it would be a very long trip and not super cheap either. I drove from Bordeaux to Montpellier, and then from Montpellier to NImes the roundtrip ticket cost only 13e. Super cheap and nice/clean train. Perfect for a day trip from Montpellier or Marseille.

nexttsar i do not think you can say that « most tourist miss ». Nimes is an extremely famous city, actually quite a big one (among the 15 biggest french cities). And is extremely famous for its Roman identity (as well as are smaller cities in that area that also have lots of Roman monuments, such as Arles or Orange, but nimes is by far the biggest. Also the Pont du Gard which is one of the 5 major french landmarks is also in Nimes area.
@JordanPatrick
@JordanPatrick 4 жыл бұрын
@@fablb9006 I know all French people and most Europeans would know about Nîmes (and since I've been living here for awhile, I've known about it for years), but I think nexttsar was probably speaking on behalf of most Americans who would know about Paris, Bordeaux, and perhaps Nice/Cannes/Marseille in the south...but Nîmes would be considered less known to foreigners abroad. Hopefully this video brings some awareness to people who didn't know about it before! It's definitely one of my favorite French cities now!

I've seen you liked history. I highly recommend you to visit the cité of Carcassonne ! It's a fortified city of the 13th century attacked by Saint-Louis father against the cathar heresy that gave place to the inquisition. The site is fabulous and the guided tour over the rampards very impressive. I also highly recommand you to taste the local speciality, a good cassoulet accompagnied with a good local red french wine! I've been thinking of moving to Nimes for the last year or so, but was getting conflicted about maybe moving to Toulouse instead (My family is from Perigueux so it's a South Western thing, it's be cool to live in a big city near my roots). I think your intro re-confirmed that I might have to move to Nimes. xD Definitely a big change of scenery from England! :)
