So glad I got shown your channel ❤ im totally getting into urban composting solutions lately 😊 So far I find rat-free methods include worm bins and bokashi. How i place my bokashi is almost exactly like your in-ground bin system!❤ I took a 2 gallon bucket from winCo and drilled 1" holes all around. Then I place 3 month aged bokashi from an indoor bucket(I usually run ×4 total-5 gallon each- one active and three at various ages, a year round system. ) then I place outside for final composting step❤ I place a tight fitting lid on the bucket, then I place a garden stone over the lid as a garden sitting stone. The weight of the stone keeps the rats out ❤

I did exactly the way you do 3 yrs ago 3 different places in my backyard, now I have voles everywhere in my backyard. Scaring me as I have fruits trees and worry that the voles also eat my trees’ roots. Now I compost in an extra large tall bin like trash can and it does work. My issues now is getting rid of voles??

I know a woman that kept all her veggie scraps in the freezer, when she had enough she put them in a pot of water, simmered them, mashed them and kept the newly vegetable water for broth.
