How to make a DIY emergency candle lantern. This simple homemade lamp is incredibly easy and quick to make... and best of all, it's free! By using a common item that you likely already have around the house, such as an empty soda can or other similar beverage container, you can create a very effective and useful lantern that will provide plenty of light for emergencies such as power outages. Or... simply just to use outdoors, whether on the ol' patio or while during your next camping trip.

Nice. I've made the soda can size to use with tea lights for various kits. (Cut can, filled with tea lights, stored in a cut down water bottle - to keep wings closed & protect can.) Never thought about using those larger tea cans & emergency candles. Like the hanger & tip to hold the candle. Thanks for sharing.

I really like the way you filmed this. Efficient use of editing, it was very clear how to do it without being overly long. Also - good idea too! Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you! This could make the difference for someone in an emergency! Because I have cats and friends of mine have kids, I'd put a piece of aluminum across the lower part of the front to prevent the candle from falling out if it melted lopsidedly or was bumped. I LOVE this video.
