Would quilting make it special or overkill?

I think it would be hard to quilt this bag the way it's put together. It's also a thin, lightweight bag. Happy Sewing!

Can the corners be boxed once it is all sewn together?

You could box the corners after it's sewn together, but do it before you turn it. Otherwise, you would have the corners hanging on the outside of the bag. Happy Sewing!

No. No interfacing is needed for this project.

Hi Gillian's Pixie Shop! I think you are referring to the plastic table that comes with the Bernina machine we have. Hello, Absolutely you could box the corners. Just make sure to do boxed corners on the lining and outside fabric.

The finished bag is about 12" x 13". So it is appropriate for any age.
