Great tip! It really helps me out since my mirror is starting to show signs of age on the edges. Thank you. So I went to buy he materials and it cost me more then $50 just for the wood and the glue. That does not include the paint. Also please beware that unless you are gluing completely on the mirror LIQUID NAILS will not work for you. My came off because half of the frame was outside the mirror because it looked better. At the end I ended up building the missing part out of wood. It was a mess but I got it done. If you read in the LIQUID NAILS instructions it says not recommend for glass. I ended up using crazy glue as well. Good luck!

@theblogauthority6 жыл бұрын
Even if you want your frame white, you will still need to paint it. The white that is on it when you buy it is only a primer. In a bathroom where there will be moisture, you need to use a satin or semi-gloss paint.

Nice Presentation! I am pretty sure crown molding is always the angled type that goes around ceiling; hence the name "crown". Other than that, awesome job! Thanks for pointing out need to paint reverse side of frame. Great point that could easily cause a disappointing result if overlooked. Keep on sharing!

I've seen other videos on this, but none answered the burning question of what you do with the brackets that hold the mirror to the wall - how did you deal with that? Or is your mirror hung some other way? Please answer, this makes the difference for many people as to whether they can use your method.
@theblogauthority6 жыл бұрын
mom2moonndweez: 1) You can measure and notch out a couple of places on the back of the wood to accommodate the clips. or ... 2) you can remove the clips and stick the mirror to the wall with mastic. When we use method #2 we drop the bottom section down a bit to allow for a few nails in the bottom piece of the mirror frame (to be sure the mirror stays in place). Fill any nail holes with spackle, let dry and repaint that section.

hello, not sure if you're still checking comments, but....Does your outer edge of the wood extend slightly past the edge of the mirror? Is it very noticeable that the wood is not touching the wall?
@housefullofgoldens2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I don’t exactly recall but I believe we placed it even with the mirror. You definitely could go further off of the mirror or if you have the tools to cut a groove, similar to a picture frame, that would work well too.

Do you apply the strip of molding over the clips of the mirror to the wall?
@marcellashabazz25424 жыл бұрын
You can just. Measure and Gorge/Carve out on the Back of The Molding Where The Clips Are That holding The Mirror up Try To Find A Strong Glue That Is Made To Adhere To Glass. Ask For Help In The Store To Find It. If You Are Just A Renter. Use Double Sided Glue To Adhere The Mirror. And As Others Have Commented Use Painters Tape To hold The Molding Up Until It Dries. And Don't Forget What She Said About Making Sure To Paint Or Spray Paint BOTH Sides Of The Molding Beforehand.

it looks great! I wonder how will the mirror look if I decide to remove the frame once I move out of my apartment? will the liquid nail ruin the mirror?

If you are in an apartment I wouldn't worry about removing it when you leave. If you do a good job.. the bathroom will have a nice custom look, rather than the generic look of most apartments :-)

after putting the nail glue on, do u place the molding completely on the mirror or the half way and the other half sticking out?

I have done these in my rentals. We usually extend just slightly past the mirror so you don't see the shiny edge of the mirror right next to the wood.

Very nice looking Christen, so I wanted to copy it but I purchased the wood (no white or any color) version, including the medallions. I believe I made a mistake. But why did U choose the white version of the moulding oven the plain version? Am I going to have to "treat" the plain wood with something? before using the rust oleum? Guess I am spending 50 for wood frame (before painting) because my mirror is larger (60 inches by 36")
@lulazeta89658 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks Christen. So I will use primer on the plain wood before I paint it.
@theblogauthority6 жыл бұрын
The white moulding is already primed, so all you have to do is paint it whatever color you want it. NOTE: Even if you choose to have a white mirror frame.. you will have to paint the moulding. The white color that is on it is only a primer.

I have been so nervous to do anything in our house. We have been here for 3 years and I have only painted a bit. I have big visions and this will be my first step in my guest bathroom. @theblogauthority6 жыл бұрын
Measure and cut your moulding strips ahead of time. You can do this at the store if you do not have a miter box and saw at home. Place the 2 bottom medallions in the corners, being sure to measure between them allowing enough room for the bottom moulding piece, which goes on next. Use a small level to be sure your medallions are straight. Then glue on the left upright and the right upright pieces. Next glue on the 2 top medallions, centering them over the upright pieces of wood, and finally glue on the top moulding piece.. VOILA!
