Hi I'd love to attempt to make this. How easy os it as beginner please? The fabric you have is gorgeous. I've only tried shirring once and it was a disaster for me. Also the sweetheart necline is so cute. I need to watch this a few times I think. Those sleeves are absolutely adorable especially as I've lost weight and have flabby wrinkly arms. I've my mind set on this now. Thank you so much 💓

Beautiful. May I ask how many rolls of elastic thread you used with this project? Also when sewing the mid sleeve elastic, does a straight stitch work or did you use a narrow zig zag?
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Noemi! I used one package of narrow elastic, one spool of shirring elastic, and 22 inches of the 1/2 inch elastic (I had this on a larger spool in my stash.) To sew the mid sleeve elastic I used a straight stitch. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

Hi Lauren! Do you think this would turn out well with double gauze? I need a dress for a wedding in 3 days and planned to make one like this, but I’ve been so intimidated to start… also I need the skirt to be fuller to accommodate a baby belly, any tips for that? Thank you!
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claudia! I think this would be so pretty in double gauze-- I just bought some in a rose color, and while I have other plans for it, now you've got me thinking I need to make it into a dress! To make sure the dress can accommodate a baby belly, I'd recommend using the measurements from my shirred sundress video-- it has a lot of room in the skirt, but a fabric like double gauze should still shrink up a lot with the shirring. The bust area will be a little more roomy, but the stretch and the sleeves should make everything comfortable. I hope this helps-- good luck!

Hi ...when you said after you did the bodice after the armholes you shirred continuously are you saying that you did not do shirr row then shirr another row? Are you saying you shirred like a spring...I am asking as I want to make this dress 👗 😏
@LaurenJohnson2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! So sorry, I think I worded that in a confusing way! I shirred in rows, but because I was past the armhole, it became a loop for each row since the pieces were connected at the side seams. I hope this helps! 😊

@Kitzelinos3 жыл бұрын
I don't get how you get to match the sleeve to the dress. I've follow like 10 tutorials of this dress and none of them have been useful, the sleeves just don't match the bodice....
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You just want to make sure you have the same curve for the armhole on the bodice as you do at the end of the sleeves. Then once the sleeves are assembled, match the curves with the right sides together and sew them in place. It’s like you just sew half of the sleeve to the bodice!
