EASY DIY TEXTURED FABRIC WALL ART TUTORIAL | diy canvas art, step by step

Hey ya'll!
I've been seeing these pieces everywhere so I wanted to try it out for myself! In today's video, I'm showing step-by-step how I created these DIY textured wall art pieces with fabric on canvases. I loved the way they came out for my first try. Hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you end up trying it out!
MATERIALS USED:
plastic drop cloth
2 36x48 inch Canvases
queen bed sheet/any fabric
bucket
paintbrushes
modpodge
stiffen stuff spray
white acrylic paint
clear gloss spray
scissors
e6000 glue (or staples/stapler for back edges)
Command Jumbo Canvas Hangers (2 per canvas)

It’s more tedious than difficult! It’s honestly pretty easy. A lot of people use plaster, which you can still put over this!

Great video!! I wanted to do this with a dark brown sheet on a white canvas instead - do you think that would work or would there be leftover white residue from the modpodge?

Thank you! I don’t think so if you saturate it evenly(may just make the color a bit matte) but I’m not 100% positive. I would take a small piece of fabric and add it to a tiny canvas as a tester. I did this before doing the larger version!

Did you use full strength Mod Podge once the wet fabric was on the canvass or did you use the Mod Podge and water mixture?

Nice - Video - I live in Australia and am going to try to make this - which fabric did you use for the queen size bedsheet - your description says use any fabric but which one would you prefer ? Thanks

Hi! I’m not sure what exact fabric this was, I just went and bought a queen sized flat bedsheet and used it! But you can go to a craft store and get a few yards of whatever fabric you like (satin, etc) but it should be something thinner, not too thick

Not exactly sure but it was just a plain room essentials flat sheet that you can get at target or Walmart!

Definitely paint around it! So that the sheet is sticking to the actual canvas. You can use a smaller paint brush for the area closer to the fabric

So glad to hear! It should honestly be fine without the stiffen spray, it should dry enough with the modpodge but I would test a small piece first!

That looks really cool but how would it look if you added some pain? Have you done this before with paint? U I have a very old tablecloth that was my mother's and its starting to fall apart, you gave me the idea that I could make 4 of these out of the tablecloth for each of my siblings and myself. But I'd like to incorporate some color. What do you think? The table cloth is like a giant doily type. (I don't know the proper name) ❤

Such a cute idea! I added paint on it but it was white, you can definitely add color paint but I would add it after the tablecloth fully sticks & dries onto the canvas ☺️

I’ve only tried this one, but I’m sure any fabric that can be saturated fully will work! I’ve seen satin used.

How much water did you add to the mod podge? 1:1 ratio?

I eyeballed it but I used a little more than half the bottle of mod podge and enough water to where you could still wring out the fabric!

That absolutely does not look like a bedsheet! It’s way too thin!! This looks more like a sheer window panel curtain.
