Easy DIY window box for cats

This window box is very easy to make, and can be made from an Amazon box and tape! Cats love cardboard boxes and the sun, why not give them both?

Update: I did this and decorated it. There are numerous contact paper colors at chain craft stores. Then i hot glued crystal accents. So happy with it and Pickles the cat uses it all the time. Thanks again, girl.😉💞

I love upcycling, so this appeals to me in a big way. Brilliant to make use of a box because there is nothing my cat loves more! Our kitty has just outgrown the window sill. I noticed her today trying to get comfortable in the sunny window only to keep rolling off the sill, poor thing. This is inexpensive, super-easy, cute, and fun. All these things more than make up for the fact that it won't last forever. Brava on the idea! Your instruction is easy to follow and your presentation is charming. I understood every word perfectly. Update: I was not so successful with my undertaking. As one cat in and it hit the floor. Slipped out of the window. My window is different and I modified for it. I reinforced and the smallest of the 3 was "okay" in it. We'll see how it goes. Either way, it was something to do. Thank you. I'm going to try this out today. I'm expecting some boxes..so let's see if the cats use it. I will wait to cover it up. I have pieces of old fabric I might just stick to it instead of going out and buying paper. I do have one cat that loves tearing apart cardboard, so hopefully she'll leave it alone 😂 thanks for the cost saving idea. God bless

It's a great idea. Unfortunately most European windows only swing open (like a door) so this wouldn't work for me. But imma send it to my sister who lives in america

I’ve yet to make one I like and that works well. There are a couple you can buy that suction to the window, that work surprisingly well.

@@CatToyLady thank you. I have the sliding sideways windows with the glass sliding inside the trough of the frame. I'm not envisioning how to fit the cardboard lip into that? Also, once the bed is in place, is the window still accessible to be slid open and closed? Or just kept closed when the cat bed is in place? 😽

@@RLaraMoore because of the sideways window style, instead of this card bed, I would try the window box I came out with today. I would anchor the rope to the box the same way, but have the two pieces of rope meet at the window, making a triangle with the box.

Yes, as shown, the window ledge helps support it. Putting a couple pieces that are triangle shaped, as braces, attached to the bottom resting against the wall, may help keep it up.

My 18 pound cat is still using it. You can see it in the video where I show how I painted the cat tree. That video is only about a month old. Yes, it sags a little but still used almost every day.

Here's a tip for you: Go have some Elocution Lessons because that terrible name you've given yourself sounds like, to people in other states, that you're the toilet-lady. #1 There is a way to suggest something to someone about anything over the internet, and then there is just outright sounding hurtful. This is such a typical example of cyber bullying that is creating an increasing amount of outright volatile, aggressive and abusive behavior in our country, and the rest of the world. The temptation to be a critic is uncontrollable for some people on KZbin - can't fathom what joy that could possibly bring to a seemingly miserable person. I have 10 kitties and this is a fantastic channel. I have no problem understanding what is being explained and the ideas shared are functional, simple and affordable for any cat lover to make.
